Good news on the membership Harry. Do you supply the server and switches/router? During the time when my pc was having trouble connecting to the web it always worked on this site. Tremendous response. Fast sign-in. I suppose it is a function of the number of connections. Well thanks anyway if it is ...

Nice try Dave and Tony.

I can only assume you have to be in a certain club.

I am in the e-type club, and I don't think we have been given these codes.

Series 1 history

Hi, I attach below part of an article published on the ClassicCarsforSale website. Series 1 1961 - 1968 When the E-type was launched in 1961 at the Geneva Motor Show it was available as a Fixed Head Coup? (FHC) or as an Open Two Seater (OTS). Between 61? and 64? the E-type ran a triple SU?d 3.8 litr...

Good work Bert!
You have been hard at it.
I hope you enjoy your drive to Silverstone, might see you there.
Is that Croyde or Woolacombe Bay in the first photograph?

Pete,
Wouldn't adjusting my advance/retard mess up my timing?
Nothing wrong with the timing, starting or running.
I just want to check the points gap.

How many owners have written in with problems with there electronic ignition?

Hi Peter, Tried that, a bit too difficult to push and check position of cam at the same time. Used to successfully do that on a mini I had. But that was a transverse engine with the dizzy right at the front. Plus it was a lot lighter! Placed order on the net for a socket. ?7.89, not too bad. See wha...

Don't worry I got the info from Harry's garage.
It is 1 5/16''. I guess that is AF?

Now to buy one. Could be expensive, so try e-bay first.

Thanks.

I would also like to say thanks for the clarification.
I thought there may have been a link between the forum and the e-type club.
I subsequently joined the e-type club, rather than one of the others.
I don't think it influenced my decision!

Hi Tony,
Yes it is black and expensive.
I used it twice for my windscreen and then it went solid.

How do you keep it moist?

To get a bit more out of it for a repair job later I went at it with a screwdiver and hammer!
Now it is in the bin.

Good luck.

Hi,
Thanks for all the replies.
Am I correct in assuming if the MOT tester applies the brakes on the rolling road , ie tests the rear brakes as a pair, no damage can occur?

If so that may be safer than "foot to the floor down the road, and then apply the brakes". NO thanks in my old girl!

Nick.

LSD & MOT

Hi, It has been mentioned before that the e-type with LSD should not have the rolling road test carried out during the MOT. Put me under the category "worrier" then please answer, If your car has had the rolling road brake test, 1) What damage could occur? 2) Could a mechanic, who knows what he is d...

Ignition Leads

Hi, Originality or practicality, that is the question? Do you experienced e-type owners have your leads gathered together in a cardboard tube or have you separated them? There is also a clever plastic tube at the front of the engine. See photograph. If you stick with the cardboard tube how does one ...
