Re: A/C underdash evaporator unit mounting
i can't seem to find my old AirCon manual but as I recall, there are two tabs holding the unit tight to the underdash, while also two screw attachments at the sides. You remove the screws and pull the evap unit toward you to remove. Hope this helps

Re: Electronic Ignition - carb ported vacuum versus manifold vacuum?
I just had my American Series 2 E Type converted from vac retard to vac advance. British Vacuum Unit in New Hampshire USA . I sent my front carb to them to drill the vac port. It is CRITICAL to place this directly above the butterfly. I would have assumed that your Jag would already have this since ...

Re: S1 vs S2/3
My tuppence as a {American emission control] SII OTS owner: agree that the SI parking lights aft are superior, as well as the front parking ones [except for illumination], but really prefer the aggressive looks of the SII headlights and air scoop. As to driveability, the SII hands down [I changed ou...

Re: Reverse gear problems
Peter: I´ll check when I get back to the storage garage. When reverse gear started getting tricky, I was told by some that it just needed a good slap to the left (toward me) to engage and it seemed to work for the most part. I don´t know if this is related, but the entire shift pattern seems to be to...

Reverse gear problems
Over the last few months shifting into reverse has become increasingly harder, to the point that I now cannot shift into it, despite slamming as hard as I can. Also the shifting from 1st to 2nd is a bit iffy, not being direct throw. The PO put in a new clutch slave. Is this a linkage rebuild project...

AirCon removal
I removed part of mine: the compressor which was not operative, all hoses, condenser (I installed an lightweight alloy radiator with 16" diam. pusher fan in front: much less overall weight on the front suspension without the condensor) , but retained the evaporator cassette for future owner revert b...
