Re: Forum Downtime

Has the forum been down, I did not notice.

Only joking, well done David for all the work and sleepless nights. I cannot say my wife is too pleased as she enjoyed having the light off earlier in bed. Always make good night time reading.

Re: Boot release will not open?

Have you tried driving it around and taking some sharp turns to maybe movie the luggage around if it is trapped in the hinges. Might work?

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

I have now had my car for over 8 years and have not had a problem so far on sweating or leaking hoses. I have never changed the fluid or needed to top it up. I am not sure what fluid is in the system or what dot has been used. Christopher did suggest I put a sample on some metal to see if it reacted...

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes

Depends if you want a quiet or a noisy E Type. Induction noise cAn become very tiring on a long journey. I like my E Type quiet. The air box has to be better than a mesh or a sock and the car runs better when it is receiving cool air rather than hot engine air. I suppose if you have a highly tuned e...

Re: Carb float recommendations

Hi Christopher, it was on your recommendation I was thinking of the stay up floats but I notice there are the cylinder type ones and the cone shaped stay up floats. Any thought on the pros and cons of the two types. Peder , the stay up floats, I presume are floats that cannot take in fuel so they do...

Carb float recommendations

Looking to replace my floats in my SU carbs on 1962 S1 DHC. What recommendations do you suggest, stay up floats, original floats, cone shaped stay up floats, after market floats etc. One of my current brass floats has a small amount of petrol in it so thinking of changing them all with stay up floats.

Re: Idiot Calling - diesel in E type

The car is running well at the moment on the contaminated fuel after the float chambers were cleaned out. I will let you know if things change for the record. Mot tomorrow which will be interesting.
Thanks again for all the comments and support. Life never gets dull with an E Type

Re: Idiot Calling - diesel in E type

Thanks everyone for their comments. Fortunately the 4th Emergency service turned up and fixed it for me. Saved me a lot of money and fuel so thank you Christopher Storey for your help. I owe you one or is it three, losing count.

Thanks Julian, I will start the big flush tomorrow. Now what do I do with 90 litres of petrol and diesel mixture. I hate waste

Ps sorry about the grammar and spelling in my post. I was rushing out and did not have time to correct the errors, but I knew you would get the jist of the problem.
