Re: Crunchy reverse gear

My mechanic usually bleeds from the clutch system by forcing fluid in at the nipple and pushing it up to the reservoir. Simply uses an "oil can" filled with brake fluid and a home made adaptor on the nozzle to the nipple. Bled in seconds.

Re: Clip on door frame mirrors

I find they do need re-tightening every so often as they loose some stiffness when they are moved around. Over 60 km/h the larger the service the more prone they are to being deflected inwards unless all the adjustment screws are very tight.

Re: Repro Marston radiator

I run a Coolcat and am very pleased with it so far. It also uses a modern thermostat switch instead of the original Otter switch. Outside temperatures can get up to 40 degrees on hot days and running up and down mountains it has coped very well. I also run the coolcat fans now and find the temperatu...

Re: another voltage question

I had a similar problem recently. Traced to bad earth connections. Where the gauges are concerned, there is an earth connected to the copper plate of the centre dashboard. Test this for connectivity through to chassis earth on it's own, and all other earth connections in the area.

Re: Jaguar E Type Series 2 - Pressure sender failures.

you can even re-use the wire for the electrical oil pressure sender as an override for the fans. it reaches from the switch to the relay perfectly.

Re: OTS Boot Floorboards

Supporting rail is part BD19055 on the S2. available at SNG, perhaps other suppliers of choice also. It all looks the same as the S1. Cross referencing the part numbers in the catalogue should help. See diagram on https://www.sngbarratt.com/uk/#!/English/FindParts/Families/XKE%20~2F%20E-Type/3/83/58...

Re: Jag E Type Series 2. 1970

I did have a look at a couple of cars there and got independent assessments done on them. Apparently the guys at BHCC are a bit chaotic in that they are kept extremely busy the whole time and the assessor was left standing a while even though he had booked an appointment and the inspection ramps. I ...

Re: Share a top tip

also left over filter pieces from vacuum cleaners or cooker hood filters can be cut and put in place. Very effective. They don't noticeably restrict airflow, I'm sure there will be a little but I haven't measured with a gauge.

Re: Mud flaps for Series 3?

I ended up putting a clear self healing protection film on those areas underside. Most dirt will now rinse off, although that doesn't prevent the splatters being there in the first place, but does give the protection against stone chips etc.

Re: Distributor problem

I had a similar issue. Cleaning out and an overhaul of the distributor fixed all. The weights were gunked up. The Distributor Doctor is the place to get a thorough professional overhaul. If it's not producing any spark at all, check the cabling to the coil. The csi ignition unit may also have moved ...

Re: Royal Jaguar?

JLR Classic have commented that they are looking how to bring the change of the original motor to the electric version to market. This is a fully reversible mod according to JLR Classic. Good on JLR for looking how to future proof classics (should one want to), and looking at the future while mainta...

Fuel Pump/Pickup Gasket

Hi What is the collective wisdom regarding the material for the fuel pump/pickup gasket on top of the fuel tank. C.22226 SNG have this as a cork gasket. Is this correct or is it better to use a rubber one? I've also got a limited choice of gasket sealant in the area. Basically PETEC. Choice of 3. Wh...
