Re: Wheel spinner quality.
I carry a wood 4x4 about 3’ long, trimmed like a beefy cricket bat. I place it on the ear and hit the wood with the mallet. Works like a champ, no marks.

Re: LED headlights
I'll check them out. But my understanding from postings here is that a full 12v is not supplied to the lights through the stock wiring. Do you know does the Z have more depth than the S1 Etypes in the covered lights headlamp bucket? I think the space is opened up in the 69. The voltage supply figur...

Re: LED headlights
FWIW, I installed these in a 7” headlight bucket on my 1973 Datsun 240Z. They fit in the bucket with no modifications. Amazing light pattern, bright, nice color temp, low current draw, low heat, no big heat sink out the back, compact design. If I hadn’t already done the relay conversion on the E typ...

Re: Oil pressure take off
I pre-oiled my engine using a garden sprayer fitted to the filter housing. Took a few minutes but I actually pumped oil completely through the system. Afterwards it only took a few seconds of starter cranking to see movement on the oil pressure gauge. YMMV.

On my S2 the tach (in “Yank-speak”) gets its its tick signal from an ignition control wire running through a coil on the tach. My car won’t run if this wire’s disconnected, so if your car is running fine while this happens, I’m pretty sure the fault must be internal to the tach. That’s my guess.

Re: Rear light cluster
Got a nice compliment on my “Marek” LED brake lights yesterday. Led a cruise, and the guy at the back of the line said he could see my brake lights from 1/4 mile away. Bright daylight, too! The brake LEDs integrated into the reversing lenses are especially bright. Here we are stopped at a waypoint. ...

Related to this topic, can anyone confirm a source for the spring clip circled in Simons photo. I want to be able to replace the rubber o rings on the adjuster without having to buy kits from Burlen. Apologies Simon for using your photo, I hope OK. https://i.postimg.cc/W1QBzV8N/D873-ED5-A-047-B-467...

You dont need to send your carb to Joe. The adjustable jet is a screw-in replacement for the fixed jet. Swaps out and sets up in just a few hours. I can vouch for the quality and performance of the mod. Really woke up my S2. Note: I just looked and it seems Joe may be “between websites”. Joecurto.co...

Re: Boot Pops Open
Mine does that occasionally. It’s usually because the T handle on the opening cable wasn’t pushed fully into its socket from the last time I operated it. I’ve got in the habit of pushing the T-handle Firmly back in after I’ve opened the boot.

I did away with it.CompassRDB wrote: ↑Fri Jul 17, 2020 11:17 pmSince the alternator has a regulator built into it... can I remove the relay that mounted above the battery? Is there anything else that can be removed? Trying to clean up the engine compartment of wires not being used.

A future owner may want them. Otherwise, the car will be fine without them.

I have this one on my S2. It came from the UK, from a gent on this forum - can’t recall his name, though. Has a nice LED stop light built in. I changed the mounting to connect directly to the folding top, so it would likely work on your car if you did the same. Probably from Dave Kerr. I have one o...

I am interested in switching to a wet gauge. Any recommendations on a source for a good period correct gauge.
