Its the old problem poor quality parts plus all rubber parts seem fail. Ive been told that one of the ingredients in rubber nowadays has been removed as it is cancerous

Hi reading all the posts no one has mentioned to check the main diaphragms in the carbs . These days all the rubber parts u buy are poor quality i would remove air filters and rev it up while watching to make sure that the slides are all lifting and topping out on full throttle

Hi i changed to automatic transmission fluid on my s3 4 speed its transformed the gear changes hot and cold syncro on second crunched a bit on way down when not fully hot now perfect

Hi has anybody on the forum had any dealings with 6 speed classics in Germany they say they can supply a 6 speed for the s3 .Only mod is to have propshaft shortened

Well it would need to be very worn ive worked for myself in the motor trade for 50 years ive seen some very bad repairs and some very worn parts over the years in a scale of 1 to 10 i would say a slightly worn stub axle rates as a 1 . If jaguar had a design flaw all early fords like cortina escort anglia all early vauxhalls had the same flaw it was the done thing in the day. We tend to look at etypes as one offs these cars were never designed to last 50 years jaguar would have expected them to only last 5 or 6 years not time for ...

Hi it sounds to me to be way out of track a quick check can be done by parking it on level ground measure between both front wheels front and back it should be virtually the same length if its way out longer at front its toeing out shorter its towing in normally if it is darting one way or the other...

Lets face it fumes have to come from the engine, if it is coming from the front it has to have a exhaust gas leak in the engine bay check it carefully for leaks it does not take much of a leak

Hi i have converted my s3 to electronic fuel injection u need a resister wired in wire between coil and tacho signal wire if u need to fit one i will check on ebay to see what resistor value i fitted

Hi just jack up under suspension arm mark torsion bar splines remove move round one spline rebuild i removed all my front suspension rebuilt it and set it u don't need no special tool just a bit of brain power

Well a good excuse to convert to modern fuel injection my s3 with programable fuel injection and ethanol compliant pipework only pipe not changed is large hose from tank to filler neck will have to keep an eye on it runs great on e10 no problem

I've been insured with hagerty for my etype and 7 classic bikes for past 6 years always been very good to deal with, this years renewal went up £200.00 i rang round got a quote more or less same as last year . Hagerty matched it but i noticed the service from hagerty seems to have gone down the pan

Another thing i forgot to mention i put the xjs breather oil catch and pipes on ,they are far better at making the engine breathe freely. The oil catch unit bolted to the front of the head needs to be cut down and re welded to make it clear the coolant pipes
