Re: Cylinder rust
Looking at the pits near the top of that cylinder in my opinion it’s finished. No hope of boring those out.

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
As a footnote to this I’ve now fitted the right angle hose that runs between the manifold and the water pump. Sourced from one of our favourite suppliers it needed trimming by around 12mm on each end to get a reasonable fit. In reality it should be a straightforward job ( nothing is!) but my guess i...

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
I think that I’ve solved this and at minimal cost. This is what you need to do Take out the union from the manifold . Hope that the thread is still ok. The thread is BSPP 3/8 ( pipe thread, parallel ) I bought from eBay a fitting with this thread and a 1/2 inch barbed outlet. Cost about £6. Thus a s...

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
Hi John, That’s extremely generous of you. I’ve ordered something of eBay which I’m hoping will do the job. Cheap at less than £4. And cheaper than a hose from the usuals which isn’t correct. 5/8 BSPP thread with a spigot size to fit a 1/2 inch id hose. If that works then I can use a standard and ea...

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
If you can supply a drawing of the part required I can make one for you in a week or ten days (delay is due to waiting for a few parts for my lathe being re-conditioned) It will cost you postage for return to you and the raw material about £3.00, cheers John. Thanks for this great offer. Not sure t...

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
I’ve looked at the Fosseway kit, already have some of their parts so as you say great quality.
At this time I only need the one hose and don’t really want to spend another £200.

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
Ok,
So SNGB have replied (very quickly) but unfortunately all of the variants they supply are plain straight hoses.
So it’s back to the drawing board !

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
Thanks Steve,
The fitting is out !
I had an engineering shop remove it thinking that it may need a helicoil but they managed ok. Had the mating face planed as well to make sure that it was flat.
I’ve had the issue of stripped thread here on a previous car.

Re: E-Type S1 4.2 DHC full restoration
Hi, maybe contact Marek on this forum. He can supply you with an electronic system which fits inside your current SU pump and does away with the points set up. Much cheaper than buying a new pump.
Good luck with your project.

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
As an update, Fosseway are unable to help on this occasion. I’m awaiting a reply from SNGB. It’s just occurred to me that the issue could be solved if the manifold connection could be changed for one with a smaller diameter outlet spigot. Quite why this wasn’t originally the case I can’t understand....

Re: Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
Hi Steve,
Thanks for the reply.
I looked atthe Fosseway hose. I’ll contact Simon and see if he sells individually - I don’t really need the complete kit
I expect he will be at Stoneleigh in a couple of weeks time and could pick up there.
Tim

Hose from inlet manifold to bulkhead
Morning all, I’m in the process of refitting my cylinder head and inlet manifold after having the head refurbished I’m faced with the issue of connecting the water outlet from the manifold to the heater pipe on the bulkhead. As some of you will know the spigot sizes are different and in reality need...

Re: Inlet manifold gasket
I see that I’ve posted before on but now I’m on a different car and am faced with the same decision on which inlet manifold gasket to use. I’ve spoken to Rob Beere who could be relied on to know his stuff ! The recommendation was the cometic gasket without any sealer. Just make sure that the surface...

I had a series 1 2+2 when the kids were young. The back seats fitted for a while but as you know they grow fast ! Once they got past about 8 it was a bit cramped. Still kept the car though ! They have flown the nest now and I have my OTS. Don’t forget the 2+2 is longer - make sure that you have enou...
