Re: xke quarter window FHC same as 2 +2 ????

Hi, Potters Jaguar tend to have these. They are often at Stoneleigh for instance. I also picked up a 2+2 one (not suitable for yours) from the US. Be aware that there were some changes to the latch over the period of manufacture so if you are a purist a rechrome could be better but there is risk of ...

Re: 123 Ignition Question

Thats perfect information. It will keep the loom tidier, I hate adding extra wires if its not necessary plus using a wire that has the correct color code is less confusing for someone who revisits later.

Many thanks

123 Ignition Question

Hi, I know there are some threads around similar questions which I have read. I have a series 1 1966 and the rev counter has been modified to generate directly from the coil. This is a single cable solution. The rev counter will have a seperate switched feed and earth as part of the standard loom (R...

Re: Lower Steering Column Yoke

Awakening an old thread. I have the problem with tweaking up the lower joint. Everything is new. The Allen bolt supplied was pretty lightweight and appeared to be more like a torx or the car builder had already had a go. I bought a new Allen socket as per this thread and tweaked it up but quickly re...

Re: Loose, floppy brake pedal

Steve, that's brilliant. I think the stop plate should get the pedal down a bit and maybe I can eat into the first part of brake application without applying the brakes.

So grateful for all the help.

Re: Loose, floppy brake pedal

So spent the afternoon looking at this, crawling in the footwell. Turns out my pedal box is probably a 65 crossover so has the L shape body and a framework for the brake master cylinder as highlighted by the diagram above. I now understand where the stop plate fits. Question: does the stop plate fit...

Re: Registering a Canadian 1962 Import

Just to complete my story. I sent back my E plate registration with a letter and a new heritage certificate together with signed documentation from the Jaguar Etype Club to DVLA and finally I got a call to say they would issue the correct D plate. It then arrived in the post virtually the next day. ...

Looks like a fresh paint over to me.

Could be covering up a whole lot of issues.

Re: Loose, floppy brake pedal

Just revisiting the topic as I am ready to do this job. As a reminder my brake pedal can be hooked up by your foot so that it becomes really high. The actuation is fine although the brake pedal starts high. I have to take out the driver seat and also attend to some issues with the steering rack and ...

Anyone know what this is?

I have this item left after a complete etype project. It arrived in my unused parts so apologies it may not be etype. I am selling left over parts hence the query.

Thanks

Re: Registering with DVLA

Sorry if I offended on series 1 vs series 1.5 and 66 vs 67. The only point I was making is if the suffix is important to you then persist with the DVLA. I can confirm the registration rules apply to the specific time. D was August 66 To 31 Dec 66. This was unusually short and then E went Jan1 to Jul...

Re: Registering a Canadian 1962 Import

Just an update to this thread. After 1 more rejection I eventually received my registration document which was an E suffix and not a D. We all know this is not great news if your car is August 1966. An E Suffix would likely mean a series 1.25 or 1.5 which are worth less than a true series 1 so when ...

Re: Registering a Canadian 1962 Import

I am going through the process right now and carefully put together everything and sent it off. A week later everything came back. My heritage certificate was rejected for being too old,. i got it in 2017. They state that all the documents need to be the originals and the heritage must be less than ...

What a great post, thank you.

I will check out the dipstick could explain any over filling.

Re: Help please on diagnosis, I am hot and is my oil pressure ok

So I met a true gentleman today, Simon We went through compression tests, oil pressure and vacuum. Simon feels the engine is all good just needs proper tuning and all torque settings checked. So this shows that for whatever reason a supplier wanted to extract money for completely unnecessary work. N...

This is all amazing and encouraging help. I am not here to spread any bad feeling about service providers as everyones experience will differ. One day I will tell you all the full story about my car which will make your toes curl. Now to order that manual. Cosmetically looking good! https://i.postim...
