Well a modicum of adjustment on the slave cylinder push rod has made a difference but still not perfect. Oil change is next on the list and thank you all for your advice. Merry Christmas.

Re: 6 cyl engine stand
I have a two sided "frame" engine stand which allow the engine to be turned through 360 degrees which is for sale. Easily strong enough for a Jaguar engine and adjustable in width for bigger units. Send me a PM if interested....I am in South West London.

Re: What a great car!
The E5 in the UK and France has an octane reading of 98/99 which could account for some of the benefit. Interestingly there has been some discussion on this subject in the UK press. As a matter of interest my conclusions were done on a strict brim to brim basis on level ground on all my cars. I find...

What a great car!
Just returned from a French event called the Champagne Rally....the title tells you everything. However on a 4 day trip of 840 miles on mixed roads, I have averaged 23 mpg! More than 10% up on previous consumption figures which can only be as a result of the E5 formulation. I have noticed this on ot...

Re: gear engagement
Have checked slave cylinder and have tried trying to engage 2nd gear first. I suspect that the problem is in the selection mechanism in the gearbox. It is clearly heat induced.

gear engagement
Series 1.5 and when hot in traffic it becomes extremely difficult to engage 1st gear. When cooler again there is no problem. Any thoughts on the cause of this?

Re: E10 in my fuel tank!
It is true that modern fuel "goes off" quite quickly and it becomes more difficult to start an engine. I have no information as to whether E5 is better than E10 in this regard... any facts on this?

Re: E10 in my fuel tank!
A couple of years ago one of the well-known E Type UK specialists was offering an E10 kit....replacement parts for those items which are/might be affected by E10......mostly gaskets and fittings on the fuel delivery lines. Anyone had experience of this kit, did it work and if so is it still availabl...

E Type reg 369 NOU
In my stock of spares I have a set of drop glasses, quarter glasses and tailgate glass all, I have discovered after properly cleaning them, are engraved with the registration number 369 NOU. I have checked on line and the car seems to exist but is on SORN. Anybody know the owner?

exhaust protrusion
My 4.2 Coupe suffers from a build-up of exhaust fume deposit on the underside of the boot. The pipes end level with the face of the reversing light. Is there a specific protrusion dimension of the pipes to stop this build-up happening? Thanks for any detail.

Re: Works time estimates - indicative
Rust is one of the biggest cost areas together with the resultant body panel replacement and painting. There has been no mention of this but figures of £100k are often used as a level for a complete professional rebuild, body, paint and mechanicals.......so how long is a piece of string?

Re: Luggage.
Take a tip from my American friends and DHL a box with her clothes in it to the hotel. Ladies do pack on a "what if" basis and this a way of resolving that. All unwanted clothes are then DHLed back home. The roadster's boot is free for a bottle of fizz and a tool set!

Re: Now THAT is a workbench.
You really do need to have adjustable feet on your stand. You could back the rear and sides with welded -on panels to prevent vibrtaional movement which will play havoc with your finished work.

Re: UK registered car or export?
I am confused by the Jaguar film in that the car is a series 1.5 but the registration is a "C". How did that happen. Or were the 1.5s introduced for export before the UK models?

I was under the impression that the plastic sheet was a vapour barrier to protect the door card rather than a water proofing membrane.

Re: Question about a 1.5 model and headlight covers
Skiracer, I fully understand that on a personal basis you decided to change you headlights. No problem for me. However, Malcolm Sayers design, which I have to say is fantastic, was not an aerodynamic tour de force. I do not know what difference the exposed headlight might have to the Cd factor but I...
