Re: DVLA Problems registering my US e type

I am putting a personal plate on a US import Mercedes. Any car more than 40 years old needs an MOT for first UK registration, after that it is exempt. It is more to check the headlight direction and other lights and things. As far as putting a personal plate on it goes, you cannot do this on-line as...

Re: Series 2 Import

I like rust free West Coast cars. I was lucky with mine. Fixing faults is a doddle compared to fixing rust! Doing the LHD/RHD conversion is not to hard on an e type too. The main safety items are wiring (all visible) and steering joints. http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=9181&hilit=8+weeks

Re: Vibration

Well, its probably a bit late in the day and a bit obvious, but it might be something really simple. Why not swap your wheels around front to back. You can do that this evening. Also, reproduction spinners have caused all sorts of issues with my car, check the spinners are tight. You never know, the...

Well it would have been sensible if he had taken some independent advice before spending all that money.

You are right of course, fraud is fraud. Interesting to see what transpires.

Re: Bruce McLaren #15 E-type JD Classics

How could anyone bright enough to create a fortune of £40m then entrust a second hand car dealer with it? With no contract? With little or no knowledge of the business in which he is investing? Sounds like taking a big chance to me and you have to be prepared to take the risks with the rewards if th...

Re: Jag E Type Series 2. 1970

I suppose you will have to see what your starting point is when it arrives. I decided to do all the consumables and rubber bits in one go and the car has been fine for the last 2 years. Thats what I did, I also converted it to RHD then added fuel injection and a big valve head. Having said that, kee...

Re: Jag E Type Series 2. 1970

I have heard various reports of the BHHC. My own experience has been OK. Maybe I was lucky though! I suppose it is difficult for them because they sell project cars and you never know what you are going to get until you pull the filler out. I suspect some customers have received more filler than any...

Re: Share a top tip

I will try and think of something more interesting, but in the mean time my bestest tip is with regards to rust. Serious rust starts from the inside and works its way out. This is because water will form inside unventilated box sections like dew. Spray Waxoil or some other well regarded automotive r...

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes

James, The ITG sausage is the most effective method of filtering the air. The ITG "socks" look better but give slightly worse results according to those that know at Emerald. https://s15.postimg.cc/fftkeaya3/20180317_133251.jpg Doubt you would notice though on the road. As far as noise goes, I find ...

Re: Door lock loose; advice welcome

Worth trying to move the striker plate. Use masking tape to remember the position. Your door should double click when you close it. If it is only reaching the first catch position it will rattle. Perversely, sometimes to get the door to tighten onto the second click, it is necessary to move the stri...
