Re: Radiator query

Richard

Maybe you should ask Moss for the exterior dimensions. If they are the same as your existing rad, assuming you have one, then I would risk it particularly with free postage!

Re: Radiator query

Hi Richard It certainly seems like a bargain at 16% of the normal cost and I would guess Moss just want to get rid of it. The two silver connections are presumably an oil cooler for the automtic transmission fluid. The question is does the additional oil cooler make the overall radiator size greater...

Re: No spark

Chris I agree with Steve, it sounds like a wiring error with the connections to the ignition switch. I had a similar problem on another car with it only starting when you released the ignition key, turned out the the switch was wired up incorrectly. The direct connection to the coil is the give away.

Re: S2 4.2 Cooling

The fact that you say it keeps cool when pushed hard eliminates the radiator as a problem. As has been suggested already check the airflow direction, if the fans are on the engine side of the radiator, where they should be, see if a piece of paper stcks to the radiator air inlet face when the fans a...

Re: Alternate spark plug caps

but I just wanted something with better sealing and a tighter fit, if such a thing exists I use a set of Magnecor plug leads, the plug caps provide a very positive fit and they are well sealed although I don't understand why you want good sealing. The Champion 'bow-tie' plug caps provide no sealing...

Re: Thumb screws for legend strip

Am I correct in assuming that this modification is for S1 cars? I have a similar problem with my S2 refitting the radio console which removal of the legend strip would facilitate but looking at the assembly details suggests the strip is screwed in from behind the drop down panel. A photo, presumably...

Re: Rear light chrome finisher fitting

Phil

Good to know that the old grey matter is still up to the job. And also interesting to note, as with my car, that you have a random selection of screws holding the lamp housing in place.

Happy to have been of assistance.

Re: Rear light chrome finisher fitting

Hi Phil I have done this and think, from memory, I had to remove the complete rear light assembly from the housing. Having done that access to the bolt was then available through the slot in the housing that the wires come through. If that dosen't work you will have to remove the housing as well. Th...

Loose or broken wheel spoke? Try running a pencil around them to see if they all make the same sound, a loose one will sound different.

Heat shrink tubing can go quite hard once shrunk and you might be able to build up several layers.

Re: Problem with SU No.2 !

Hi Keith Instead of trying to close down No 2 to match the airflows of 1 and 3 is there any mileage in trying to open up 1 and 3 to try and match No 2? You will probably end up with a high tick over but it may be more even and possibly a better starting point. Presumably at the moment the tick over ...

Clean the hole with emery paper so that there is a good electrical contact. Pull the purple wire through the hole. Connect the bullet connector on the purple wire to the end of the door switch. Push the door switch into the hole. You may need to squeeze the lugs on the switch down a bit to fit into ...

Re: Insulation of the contacts of the distributor cap burned

As you appear to consistently be putting too much energy into the spark and the only non standard part of your setup is a Pertronix 1, I would check the sensor gap inside the distributor to verify that the Pertronix does not have too high a dwell set. kind regards Marek My understanding of the Pert...
