Re: Folding down the Soft top correctly

I think it's probably clear now, but the manual has it spot on. My summary below: Tilt seats forward Lower top while tucking in the rear window, and pulling out the central fold of fabric Push down and secure in lowered position with the 2 hold down straps fed through the chrome rings (often not pre...

Re: Folding down the Soft top correctly

Well, this is a puzzle. The OP says the top picture is his car - I'm no expert, but Google confirms that the turquoise car is a Series 3 , hence a completely different hood frame, as per the attached picture I found. Note the black frame and studs on the outside panel to secure the roof side flap, w...

Re: Soft top internal fastening

In the interest of adding some detail to this thread, I managed to acquire a set of (assumed) original side trim panels. I've done a bit of work and produced a drawing of the sheet metal piece, which can be seen to be a reasonably complex curved section. This may be useful to others who may need to ...

Re: Handbook and Documents

Rob, there's some info on this in the factory fit section of this S2 forum: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2008 Along with some of the other 'components', I've also got the JDC and RAC leaflets, and the Service Policy is my creation, using original scans and Photoshop work, then print...

Do we assume this took 50 tries to get right vs 40?

Re: Washer motor. AGAIN

I installed a 12v submersible pump in mine - check this old post and the thread: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=16614&p=137823&hilit=washer+motor#p137070 If you are fairly handy, this would be easy enough to do (even without 3D printed parts). The result is significantly improved flow...

Re: Pre-cut key

Its unlikely - in any case, quite possible the lock has been replaced in the past so it wouldn't help.

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

When I first had the car it was exactly the same set up as yours Richard with the two connectors, but one was brittle so I fitted bullet connectors on the wiring joints but it still has the original on the pump. Thanks Paul, that's really interesting. Not sure about your car, but mine is a fairly l...

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

As an addition to this post, I found this picture of my bottle setup prior to recent fairly extensive renovation. I'd missed it before, but I actually had two plugs, one on the supply harness, then a short cable to the motor, with a 2nd plug. The plug on the supply harness is nowhere near close enou...

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

Ok, so responding to a couple of points - the connector on my car has been there from new, and the Lucar terminals certainly 'appear' to be copper rather than brass. However, I have no way to know for sure. Anyway, I just mention it for interest, and it's not really important. Image shows original b...

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

I've now got some brass female terminals- I'll finalise the plug design to suit these and I can then message anyone interested in a plug.

I note that the original 6.3mm terminals are copper on my car, but these seem very hard to find these days, unless someone knows a source?

Re: Carburetter float lever setting S2

Thanks for that - I did find that I was missing the fibre washer under the vent tube banjo, which I guess explains why predominantly the inlet path filled with fuel rather than expelling via the vent.? I'll see if I have one and reassemble and check. I had checked by blowing down the fuel inlet, and...

Carburetter float lever setting S2

Trying to stop an overflow situation on the middle HD8 carb (not starting the car frequently enough, probably encouraging sticking shutoff). The brass float appears to be doing its job, but I have a query regarding the adjustment of the float lever. My carbs have a plated needle with a sprung ball b...

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

Those are the ones Steve. I should get some next week, and I'll need to tweak the design to suit the ones I get. I'll let you know once it's ready.

Re: Lucas washer bottle connector picture please

Steve, you reminded me that I was working on 3D printing this part a little while ago - I like to copy appropriate plastic components on my car, when I get the opportunity. I can finish working on this, as soon as I get some Lucar connectors with the locking tabs, which are needed to fit inside the ...

Interesting question - I haven't noted anything else using that grey colour (perhaps the vehicle jack?), my car having recently been extensively renovated.

Re: Pizza oven stand

Whilst I do love a thick crust, the Roccbox oven weighs in at 20kg, so it's a hefty bit of kit that actually needs a substantial stand. I was really reluctant to discard the engine frames that were original to my car, so I thought about using them to create some sort of desk or workbench, but lack o...
