Thanks.
Mine were not standard rivets. They appeared to be a small rectangular plate, about 15mm x 6mm with a brass screw brazed into it. These then slid along the chrome trim to line up with the holes. Probably home made.
Thanks again

Headlight chrome trim, painted?
Hi, whilst looking through my Series 2 parts list I came across the following on page B17. The chrome surrounds, eyebrow etc and bead along the bonnet ( BD35668,70,94,69,71,95) are all as expected listed as having a chrome finish. However a little further down the page the same parts albeit with dif...

Headliner curtain glueing
H, when I fit the curtain around the roof do I glue it to the roof fully or just at the lower edge where it is covered by the cantrail? Or does the cantrail itself hold the curtain lower edge in place?

Re: 2+2 rear seat torsion bar.
Hi Carsten, thanks for the offer of photos. The only real query I still have is the diameter and thickness of the brass washers that fit between the mechanism and the seat. Are they just 'normal' washers or anything special?

I have to admit that mine has been like it is for at least 25years without any problems. Every day is a learning day.

2+2 rear seat torsion bar.
Hi,
does anyone know the purpose of the torsion bar connecting the forward links on the rear seat squab assembly? Part number BD28572. Mine has threaded studs on each end, brass washers and locking nuts are missing.
Steve,
series 1 2+2,
in less bits than before I retired.

seat mountings painted or covered?
Hi, Series 1 2+2.
Are the brackets that are welded to the sill and the transmission tunnel that support the rear end of the seat sliders, left painted or covered in Vinyl?
Thanks
Steve

Extent of underfelt
Hi On a series 1 2+2 do the following areas have underfelt ? Under the rear seat. This area has the original stuck on diamond pattern sound deadening. On the vertical face where the two access panels are to get at the handbrake pads. There was evidence of glue in this area. On the horizontal area ab...

Re: ignition switch anticlockwise
Thanks Simon.
That sounds like a plausible answer. But when I turn the switch anticlockwise everything is energised, including the ignition circuit.
Strange that I have found no reference in the handbooks etc as to this feature.
Do others have the ability to turn the key anticlockwise?

ignition switch anticlockwise
Hi. Series 1 2+2 My ignition switch does everything it should do when I turn the key from vertical in a clockwise direction. No problems with that. But I can also turn the key anticlockwise and it does exactly the same. Everything that is energised when it is turned clockwise is energised when turne...

Leather seat covers from Lithuania
Hi idautoparts from Lithuania were advertising on that well known auction site, leather seat covers either with or without door panels, headrests and cubby box cover. Whilst these seem to have vanished from that site they tell me they are still available through the site. They were priced at £438 ap...

Re: Switch indicator panel, bit missing?
Thanks all for the replies.
I can see where it fits now and I can see why it would make lowering the dash difficult.
All of the Jaguars ( S type, 420, etc) that I have owned over the years had this rubber strip missing.
I will leave it off my E type.
Thanks
Steve

Switch indicator panel, bit missing?
Hi, I seem to a bit missing from my dashboard strip that tells you what the switches do. I have the switch indicator strip, C15609, the light filter ( green strip of thin plastic), C15289, and the chrome finisher, C15916. However the parts list goes on to list BD24393, 'light shield ( rubber) below ...
