Re: Automatic Transmission leak.

Hi ,
I had a similar leak from my S3, it was the the front gearbox seal .its not an expensive repair just gently prise the old seal out and replace with a new one .
I took the gearbox out when doing my repair, this can be done without taking the engine out.
All the best ,

Re: Cam shaft tools

Hi , i have annoying oil leak which i thought was from the cam cover, but having taken the inlet manifold off it appears to be leaking from the joint between the tappet block and cylinder head. My thoughts were to remove tappet block and and clean and reseal.to do this the cam needs to be removed. T...

Re: Misfire Petrol related?

Hi ,
had a similar problem when i first had my s3 ,
on investigating i found it was only running on a single pump.
Fitted a new electronic pump from SNG and all was cured.

S3 mixture

Hi everyone, Does anyone have any experience of adjusting the mixture on a S3 american import, as the needles seem to be locked in position. The jets are adjustable on the underside of the floatbowls but having adjusted these the mixture still seems to be weak. Any comments? I have tried to adjust t...

Re: BEST ENGINE OIL!!

Hi everyone,
I use morris classic engine oil.
Change it every 12 months.
Having had this chemically checked when i worked in the aerospace industry it was found to be more than
adequate.
And it is sold by SNG Barratt my prefered supplier.
The previous comment is 100 percent common sense!

Re: Gearbox removal with engine in situ

Hi if you use 3 ton axle stands , I found these seem to extend higher and still keeping nice and solid you will get the car high enough to withdraw the gearbox, I would use a transmission jack to take the weight of the gearbox as well. I took my centre console and seats out as well to make it easier...

Hi Marek,
does the cam cover have to be removed to enable you to see where the top of the tensioner locates?
Thanks Rob.

Hi Marek, with the timing chain cover off the top of the tensioner is not visable.
(where it locates)
Thanks Rob.
