Re: Wiring diagram
I had a similar custom made wiring diagram a few years ago and had it professionally printed as an A1 size poster (which was pretty cheap) which I stuck to the wall for easy viewing. Thats the advantage of PDFs they can be printed quite large

Optional Item: Passenger foot rest
I noticed that my wife is a little uncomfortable in longer journeys in the car because her feet do not reach the end of the footwell. I did consider the option of finding a wife with longer legs but in the end I sensed it would be a bit cheaper to make her a foot rest  I know a footrest was ...

Re: Replacing the headlining
My Blog also covers this. Its not 'hard' per-se as long as you have removed the windscreen. Probably the hardest part is getting the glue covered headlining into the car without it sticking to anything on the way in and then lifting it up to the roof. There is not much spare material to play with. O...

Re: Door shut mechanism adjustment
I can take a look at that too Paul - thanks... there has to be wear somewhere. I cant imagine driving the car for a while, that's why I am playing with door gaps and replacing door rubbers etc. It is nice to have 2 doors that close under their own weight. Looking at your pictures - your weld trigger...

Re: Door shut mechanism adjustment
Well, I tried the counter intuitive idea and sadly for me, moving the striker plate outwards simply meant I made the locked door position worse. So for now, its back in the best position I can get and will have to put up with a very slightly (now around 2mm) protruding door which is a shame because ...

Door shut mechanism adjustment
Folks, 1964 4.2 Series 1 FHC. I am noticing recently that my Driver door is able to open very slightly. By this I mean that the door shuts and fully secures as it should and is NOT opening onto its safety position but when the door is in the 'shut' position, it has the ability to spring back 3-4mm. ...

Re: Pulling engine out
I always disconnect the top balljoint on the suspension so the upright is free to rotate with the torsion bar - that relaxes the torsion bar and makes teh reaction plate easier to remove. I generally remove the engine from below, i found that a lot less stressful but you do of course need to remove ...

Re: Poor main earth connection
Thanks Dave - the ignition switch having high resistance had not occurred to me and is worth looking at as it is an after market item and it may indeed be a contributory factor. A relay would get round that problem at least. But the bit that niggles me is why cleaning the earth strap to bulkhead con...

Re: Poor main earth connection
Darn... My bad battery earth cable problem has returned. I thought I had solved that but no. Same issues as before - loosen the earth lead on the bulkhead, clean the terminals, tighten the securing bolt up again and the car is fabulous again. Conductive grease extended the period between needing to ...

2019 NEC Classic car show - my Etype
Hello Folks For those people able to attend the NEC show in Birmingham last weekend, you will have noticed how well Jaguar cars were represented with a few Etypes scattered around and it was nice to see a tribute to Norman Dewis too. Some people were aware that Moss had asked if they could borrow my...

Re: Dashpanel top - recovering
Thankyou kind sir :thankyouyellow: I am rather hoping it comes back with all its parts and no damage although Moss insured the car for that reason. There were a lot of people closer to the car than I would have liked but it was nice to have the car on display. It was nice to see Jaguars so well pres...

Re: Dashpanel top - recovering
Chris, where will we have to queue up to view and admire your car? Most likely going and it’s always good to see a forum member’s car Geoff Hi Geoff. My car will be featured on the "Moss" stand. I am Chairman of the JEC Surrey Region and the 'Jaguar' director at Moss is one of our members. They wan...
