Cam feed pipe washers

Has anyone any experience with the uprated Goodridge cam feed pipe washers offered by SNGB?
They look significantly thicker than the original paper thin copper washers with the compression ring and
I am concerned about fitting them and finding the oil feed holes don’t line up properly.
Thank you

Re: Rear main oil leak -help please!

Apologies Steve, please ignore my last post, it was not the Terrys Jag installation that was installed.
This one didn’t need to be cut to suit, and should have been installed with the split out of line with the horizontal housing

Re: Rear main oil leak -help please!

Hi Steve, The oil seal conversion was originally supplied by Terrys Jag Parts in the US, but fitted incorrectly according to Terrys YouTube installation video. I.e seal split was horizontal and no rtv used. It is not necessary to cut this one down, it squashes in to the recess on fitting. I share yo...

Re: Rear main oil leak -help please!

Sorry, didn’t miss your point. 8 litres of 20/50 oil were put in the sump, which is approx 14 uk pints and 7 uk quarts. Not sure if UK quarts are the same as US. This equates to the dipstick being half way between min and max, after the engine has run to fill filter. Jaguar state 8.5 litres to max i...

Re: Rear main oil leak -help please!

Just to add, It is not the cam feed pipes, they are dry. The oil level is half way between min and max. I have checked the dipstick and it is correct length and marked E The recent engine strip revealed a leaking rear main bearing seal, hence a very careful replacement. Seal split at 8.10 so the spl...

Re: Rear main oil leak -help please!

Hi Steve, Hope alls well with you and thanks for your response. Yes, breather plumbed in to carb side of air filter as standard. What I really don’t understand is that it has been completely dry over 100 miles brisk driving and been completely dry. As soon as I subject the car to cruising at constan...

Rear main oil leak -help please!

Having recently had the engine out of my Series 2 OTS to fit a new clutch, rebuild gearbox and fix a rear main bearing oil leak (split lip seal) I am delighted the car is completely transformed to drive. After about 100 miles of varied spirited driving the car was completely free of oil leaks! I dro...

Re: Hello - SW UK

I would second that. I had a Series 2 FHC years ago because I’d always wanted an E Type. However I sold it because it was just too hot in the summer with pretty poor ventilation, and I didn’t use it in the winter because it was always wet and salty. No doubt a sunroof would improve things. I’ve now ...

Re: Small Petrol Leak

Hi Neal,
Thanks for info, I have lowered the float heights by a couple of mm and this appears to have stopped it flooding

Small Petrol Leak

Had to leave the ignition on today whilst repairing the reversing lights (about 5 mins) and noticed the fuel pump does not quite stop ticking, perhaps once every 20 secs or so, followed by a smell of petrol. There is a leak from all three carbs. On removing the air cleaner there is a pool of petrol ...

Re: JDC JEC or E-type club

Agree, this is the best E Type club. I am a member of JDC, really because I read the magazine on line and it gets me a parts discount from SNG, Manners etc. Also gives me access to events.

Re: Gear lever free play

Understood now thank you.
I shall fit the spring washer between the yokes and that will eliminate the play.
Another issue sorted!

Gear lever free play

Just assembling the gear lever on my S2 following gearbox rebuild and noticed, when moving the lever across the horizontal plane there is approx 8mm play across the pin beneath before the base of the lever touches the fibre thrust washers. As per photo Would anyone know if this is correct or am I mi...

Re: Exhaust Flexi

Finally used Custom Chrome in Nuneaton. Cut out and welded in two new flexis. Very knowledgeable and helpful, would recommend for any exhaust work.
Top quality and a very reasonable price

Thanks Steve, I had hoped that, but pipe tapers at the back end of the flexi, not leaving a parallel section to clamp to.

Exhaust Flexi

One of the flexis has split but as the exhaust is of an unknown make I am struggling for a replacement. Would anyone have any recommendations for an exhaust specialist in the Midlands who could ...

Re: Chrome Plating Quality - UK

A C F Howell in Walsall repaired and rechromed most of my E Type parts a few years ago, quality is outstanding, repairs invisible and good as the day they were done.
More recently they have rechromed my wheel spinners with equally good results.
