Re: Headlining sides remove
Thanks - I removed the door rubbers. Unscrewed and can't rails I now have good access to the side areas of the headlining. Regarding the cant rails, is there a trick to removing the thin chrome edge trim as while the cant rails are out it would be good to retrim them? Thanks Bert https://s14.postimg...

Headlining sides remove
Hi, I'm currently at the trimmers helping to remove and refit a new Aldridge trimming headlining kit ( trimmer has not fitted one before before) - it's a full kit as the sides are grubby and sagging not just the main center price. We are trying to remove the headlining sides from my S2 2+2. I have r...

Having converted a 1969 2+2 from auto to manual, i would go for the the Manual overdrive box (which will fit an auto etype) as an Etype with auto gearbox is like driving a hearse that resembles a sports car. However if you do go down this route be prepared for a long shopping list ie: clutch pedal, ...

Hi, thanks for the information: the battery is holding charge for a couple of weeks but it won't fully charge & has caused the battery 'faulty' light to appear on the smart charger, so it is time for a new one. I'll fit a new battery & check the relay's & see if i can get it back to charging. Regard...

Hi, would a failing battery cause the ignition light to stay on? Its a series 2 & has a rebuilt alternator but as of last week the ignition LIGHT is staying on & the dashboard charge dial is showing 'off charge'. I have had the battery on charge for 2 days but it is still not fully charged, i have t...

Classic Car of the Year competition 2012 E-type.
Hi, I just had a phone call from the Classic Car of the Year competition - i entered my S2 2+2 a few months ago on a whim & it appears that i am in the final 20. If you want to check out the final 20 cars here's the link: http://www.ccoty.co.uk/classic_car_voting.php There's some great cars in the l...

I agree - The S2 rear lights look like something fitted to a caravan & i do feel that they compromise the look of the car. When i first joined this site a couple of years ago there was a french S2 E-type being converted to complete S1 rear end. Would anybody know if the car was ever finished & what ...

'CAR' magazine: which issue surf e-type?
Hi, I have just been informed by a random person in a petrol station that CAR magazine featured a picture of my E-type (regency red S2 with Surf board on the roof) in the readers pics section of the mag (to clarify it wasn't me who sent in the image so must have been a passing snapper) The guy could...

Bonnet sideways adjustment?
Hi, i'm spending the next few days sorting a few niggling jobs on my Series 2. One thing i need to do is to move the bonnet sideways by 3mm as it sits proud on the kerb side & sits internaly on the offside by the same amount. Do i just undue the 8 bolts at the front of the bonnet & give it a shove t...

Bump Stop Removal
Hi, could someone explain what i need to do to remove the rear bump stops when fitting larger tyres please?
Is it a case of just removing the rubber bump stops or do i also need to grind of the metal part that the bump stop bolts to?
Thanks, Bert.

Hi, thanks for the input. Black circles don't list a V rated tyre on their website, the highest they go in 205/70/15 is T rated 118mph. The MWS wheels have stainless spokes so hopefully rust will not be an issue. I would need to hear more independent feedback before i invested in Blockley's, even th...

Thanks for the information, you have turned me away from the Pirelli's but i have set my mind on 205's as i think they fill out the elongated look of the 2+2 better, bearing this in mind & also taking the financial outlay into consideration: 205 Avon CR28's at ?155 or 205 Vredesteins at ?275: which ...

205 Tyre dilemma
Hi, I bit the bullet & today ordered some MWS 6 inch chrome/stainless wheels with pirreli p4000 tyres for my S2 E-type, however the supplier has just called me back to tell me that there are no p4000 or even p6000 tyres available as Pirelli's are in short supply. The other available choices are Avon...

A few months ago i had a new windscreen for a S2 2+2 sourced & fitted by National windscreens in North Devon - luckily it was paid for by the insurance as it had started to delaminate - but i don't think i would have had much change out of ?400 if i had to pay it. The screen fitter said the new scre...
