Re: new member from Italy, and new toy
Welcome Maurizio, There are a few Italy-based members here. I have a house near Stresa on the west side of Lake Maggiore where I intend keeping my E-type when it is complete. Sadly, I do not spend as much time there as I would wish, but that is because of the tiresome fact I must work! Where are you...

Re: Calling Any Italian Owners
In extremis, if you are prepared to wait until early March to do the deal, I and/or my wife will be at our place in Italy for a couple of weeks then and could receive a package but I would not want to rely on the post being delivered effectively in our absence. (I have had book packages flung over t...

All the above. And Chris Vine's blog. Plus I found this book - an account of a restoration at CMC - quite helpful: https://books.google.co.uk/books/about/E_Type_Jaguar_Restoration_Manual.html?id=y9iRDgAAQBAJ&source=kp_book_description&redir_esc=y +1 to that book. As for your budget, as someone who ...

Re: Exhaust question/recommendations
I don’t know if any of these are still available: I have one of these for my 2+2 restoration which is not yet complete - https://www.abarth-exhausts.com/jaguar/ . David Jones covers it in the Upgrades section. It is made in mild steel and I there’s a sound file or YouTube video with sound on the pag...

As for sourcing the correct rivet, could not Chuck from Monocoque Metalwork be a useful place to start?

Re: Seen this morning near Leicester Square
Hi Peter...you obviously had a very different experiance with Mercs than me....with quite a few parts for Pagodas and R107 no longer available from Mercedes.....and there arnt the huge range of aftermarket manufacturers and suppliers that we have with Jags.....the main reason i got rid of my 107 wa...

Re: Seen this morning near Leicester Square
:yeahthat: And for those that think Jag parts are expensive check out Merc parts.....you will be very smacked and never complain about Jag prices..... ....Steve That said, the extra cost of parts is normally offset against much lower labour costs as Mercedes parts of that era were almost u...

Re: e type wiper motor upgrade?
Another vote for RainX. I’ve always taken the view that the Jaguar, much like my Alfa Spider, sees its wipers as a friendly but largely effete gesture towards road safety rather than as a credibly useful tool. I’ve just driven across the Alpes Maritimes and the Massif Central in biblical thunderstor...

I think BJ (at least in this context!) is a contraction for the German compound noun for Build Year.

Re: Historic and Classic Vehicles Alliance
Agreed, polse. Thanks, too, to the OP for the link. Not as drastic as elsewhere as classics over 40 years old are exempt, but It looks as if I’ll need to dispose of my 1991 Alfa Spider S4 by the autumn as I live within the ULEZ area in London and Khan wants to relieve me of £12 a day for the privile...

Re: Classic British Cars BBC4
We’re veering off topic so this is my last contribution on the topic. Those are very carefully drafted words but they only have force in UK territory. I’m sure we’re all law-abiding folk here but the Brits don’t usually do extra-territorial application of our laws for anything much below murder or w...

Carsten As a part time resident of Italy, I am able to say with certain knowledge that it is possible to obtain a VPN account with someone like Nord that allows subscribers to spoof the BBC iPlayer and other media players’ security into believing that the subscriber is within the UK, similarly for g...

Re: Parts from USA
Hi Guy, It is quite a subject working out commodity codes and duty etc. Better to call the help line and get their advice. I did a quick search and would say that Commodity Code 8708291000 https://www.trade-tariff.service.gov.uk/commodities/8708291000 would be correct for the import and that would ...

They are exceedingly good value and, for quality, are the veritable mutt's in my opin...

Chuck is the gent who runs this show:
http://www.monocoque-metalworks.com/main/
He sells sets of top quality fasteners...
I write as a happy (UK/EU) customer but with otherwise no connection.
Peter
EDIT: He's also forgotten more about how E-types are put together than most of us will ever know.

A bit of a thread resurrection but I'm just getting to dry fitting a S3 engine.
Did your experiment with the oil cooler work?

I'd concur - Signore Marelli in my experience is at least as culpable and I regret to say that the Teutonic Herr Bosch has let me down many more times and in newer cars than the Prince of Darkness ever has.
