If it helps, I have smelled coolant in the past when driving and I have had some steam coming from the same place. It's pretty dry right now so I am pretty sure I didn't go through any puddles.

So, what you are showing me mounts directly below the dash? No extra layer of insulation in between?

Simon - the hardura I bought has a thin layer of insulation built into it (I believe they all come this way). What I removed from my car was the hardura + an extra layer of jute insulation, which was sandwiched between the hardura and the bulkhead. Is this correct, or do I not need that extra layer ...

Alan - I believe you are referring to the plastic piece that slips under the dash lip. I am talking about the soft vinyl piece with padding/insulation on the back which spans from the top of the footwell carpet to that shorter plastic piece. Hi - I will be installing a new hardura panel on the passenger side of my series 1 '67 E-type coupe, under the dash.
Is there a "best" way to do this? I have read about people using glue, magnets, or even velcro. This is a new job for me, so I am a sponge awaiting advice.

Hi - I have a '67 series one FHC. There is a vertical piece of upholstery in the passenger compartment right below the dash, roughly 14" x 14" with sound insulation on the firewall side. It has come loose, and I am unfamiliar how to re-attach it. Any advice?
