Misfire hunt!!!

Hi all, over the past year or so I’ve been chasing a misfire on my 1971 series 3, new leads, plugs and SNG Barrett ignition system fitted, I’ve just noticed that on the near side pair of carbs, if I spray some carb cleaner around the gasket area when idling it pick up revs …. On the off side carbs, ...

Suspect voltage regulator

Hi, new fault has developed on the Series 3, after starting the fan belt will squeal if engine is above 1500 rpm, and the voltmeter in the car goes full deflection, this lasts for about 2-4 minutes, then the belt stops squealing and the volts drop to normal, its as though there is a load on the alte...

This isn’t right!

Whilst checking my inoperative water temp gauge, I referred to the workshop manual to find location of temp sender unit, the picture it shows is of the fan switch!!!

Re: oil pressure woes

well, its taken me nearly 3 hours to get the oil pressure switch removed, what a bastard place to put it, had to cut a 14mm spanner in half to get on it!!! still its off now and a new one has been ordered off e-bay. I also removed the black panel holding the brake fluid reservoir on, could do with d...

Re: oil pressure woes

The reason I ask is, I bought it off a well known dealer that wasn’t bothered, and I phoned another well known dealer to ask if he would be concerned and he wasn’t, not in the slightest, anyway, it turns out I’ve got the oil pressure sender in Athens really awkward place..... how the hell do I get t...

Re: oil pressure woes

Yeah, I understand that the original gauge is inaccurate, I just mentioned it as it was showing the same as it has always done, even when the light was on, I think a new gauge will be on the list of things to do. BTW tried it last night, light went out as soon as engine fired up!

oil pressure woes

Decided to give the Series 3 a run into work this morning, however, pulling in for a fuel stop after a mile or so, the oil pressure light came on! the pressure gauge was reading 70-80-lbs, but the light stayed on, checked oil level, all fine, returned home and abandoned!!!!! Any thoughts? what would...

Starting woes

Starting my v12 after a couple or more day's sitting on the drive is getting more and more difficult, the drive is sloped and i usually park with the divers door on the low side, when starting after a couple of days, its as though I've no fuel, after cranking for ages with choke on, the only way to ...

Re: Running Temperature etc

Have driven my series 3 hard and in some really bad traffic all through this summer, when temps have got so hot, it has melted the headliner glue!!! however temp has only creeped above the halfaway mark, fans kick in and all is well.

The tacho on my V12 has given up the ghost ( sometimes it will work after whacking it a bit) any ideas as to where to start looking?
