Thanks guys! I got one on Ebay. I put it in my car and still no spark!
I found that in addition to the center post being failed on the distributor cap the rotor was shorted out as well. New rotor and we are good to go.

64 distributor cap
Hey guys, I was recently trying to tune my 64 XKE 3.8L... while I was adjusting the SU's, the engine stalled. I thought it was something I had done on the carbs so I put the settings back, to no avail. Eventually I found that it was not getting any spark and the culprit was the center post on my ori...

Re: diff pinion seal
I'm digging up this old thread because I had a hard time getting my pinion flange off. Maybe not this bad, but after soaking it with Kroil for 2 days, heating it, and putting the most force I was comfortable with on a large gear puller, I decided to go a different route. I made this attachment up so...
Re: IRS
Looks very nice.
Did he set your camber & caster or will you do that once installed?
Wondering what is the threaded bar tool? I am getting ready to put my IRS back in hopefully soon.

Re: Advice on diff input seal
I'm really puzzling over this. I have an S1 and I'm starting to think maybe mine is a fixed spacer instead of a crush washer. Is my setup different than the S2?

Re: rear brakes
Thanks guys. Backing plates separated on 2 of the pads and some of my pistons were pitted. I couldn't see myself putting it all back together just to find it still leaking!! So I have ordered a set of new cylinders w/ stainless pistons and new pads. Some of the wishbone needle bearings looked iffy, ...

Inner fulcrum needle bearings
As part of my exponentially growing rear brake job, I noticed that the needle bearings on my inner fulcrums are in poor condition. Can I just push the pair out at the same time with a press or do I need a blind bearing puller / slide hammer?

Re: Advice on diff input seal
Wish I had ready this 2 days ago, I just did the same as you; I took my pinion nut off without thinking to mark it. I'm planning to take my diff into a shop to have them redo it because I don't want to take a chance.
Does anyone have any recommendations on who to buy the spacer from?

Hey guys, I haven't posted in a while but I'm still plugging away at my 64 OTS. I got the engine running and I redid the entire fuel system. I decided to tune the engine properly later once the whether warms up (and I obtain a syncrometer) and switch to working on brakes. I did the master cylinders,...

64 gas tank removal
I got my engine fired up. It started on the second crank. Thanks for all the help!!! So now, we move onto a dumb question... how the heck do you get the gas tank out? I got the bolts out. Do I need to remove the boot latch? What else?? I've got some serious gunk, any suggestions on a tank cleaning m...

Re: SU rebuild kits & ID
So... got side tracked on some other projects, still plugging away at my first carb... I received the XKE overhaul kit from Burlens. I found a few discrepancies in the kit: 1. They do not supply an original type throttle shaft seal. I wasn't about to ream out my carb to press in bushings for the new...

Re: SU rebuild kits & ID
I'm guessing that somebody prior rebuilt these carbs and didn't realize they were assigned specific positions until they were all taken apart. Mine are the AUD 112's and the kit is on the way from over the pond. I started running the one carb I took off in the ultrasonic cleaner. Assuming that F = f...

SU rebuild kits & ID
I finally got around to looking at my carbs... There is a tag on each float assembly which I understand indicates the install location... from front of car to back mine were labelled C, R, and F. I plan on putting them back on in the correct order, but how do I know that the tag matches the actual c...

Re: '64 XKE OTS
I definitely have a "B" terminal on a Lucas R340 regulator and a dynamo. I neglected to take a picture of the terminals. Next time I'm working on it I will get one. The immediate problem with the gearbox is solved. I posted a separate thread on that with some extra pictures. Some filing on the point...
