Re: 123 Tune Plus

thanks for the replies. I did post a reply earlier but it seems to have gone astray. Basically, I searched the internet last night and found a far better schematic for a +ive earth application on the 123. The instructions and total lack of support from the manufacturer leaves one really to sort this...

123 Tune Plus

Just fitted a new Bluetooth 123 to my 3.8 Positive earth This is the third 123 I have fitted but alas it seems dead to the world. I am confident it was wired correctly, its brand new but there was no green light or bluetooth light on the side of the distributor. I know electronic items can have fail...

Re: Another new Etype

Indeed you are right. It’s not a victimless crime nessesarily . Highly tempting For an old boy owner to take a few quid and sell his logbook and see his car resurrected

Re: Another new Etype

there is little doubt in my mind it s a total fabrication. Whether in the overall scheme of things that matters is debatable . I have seen new series one tubs being made probably better than the factory managed it. However its still not right and its leeches off the value of the survivors and is a f...

Re: Another new Etype

Hi Andrew....yes i understand what you are saying.....scrapped can mean different things.....as in notified and registered as scrapped with the dvla.(it can no longer be brought to life).....or iv reused the engine in another car and the rest is scrapped (lying in a corner of a field or garden........

Sorry, I perhaps didnt make it clear. The original poster said he scrapped the car and used the engine in his Mk2. That post has now disappeared.

Re: Another new Etype

A previous post, quite clearly stated it was scrapped. That post has now disappeared somehow! edit, the remaining post also states the he owned it for a couple of years, being past tense. Its definitely a log book restoration but when its done I dont hold out any hope that an inspector will be suff...

Another new Etype

Being an avid watcher of Xkedata I am dismayed to see another car clearly previously stated as written off now appears to have miraculously risen from the dead 850067. I am unsure how people manage to pull this trick off when DVLA are meant to be using vehicle club inspectors to check authenticity ....

Re: Restoration story

hi Robbie, you can see on the restoration thread a number of archives, mine being 860897. I recall you finding the car in Holland, can you post up some photos of it when you found it, sounds an interesting car.. What was the chassis number again?

Re: Ignition Amplifier

hi Mark, and many thanks for the response and apologies for not replying sooner. I shall take a deep look at this information. I have bought a new coil and amplifier from SNG so hope that this will solve the problem. Fingers crossed . I do appreciate the help . Andrew

Re: Ignition Amplifier

Ah, well sadly the problem is back, or more accurately, never went away. I am now wondering whether the coil is the culprit. I see that the coil fitted to my XJ12 is non ballast. Not sure whether this is right or not, as I think I read somewhere that the SNG Ignition kit doesn't need a ballasted coi...

Re: Steering column issues

For clarification, I did not strip this down, loose anything or sell a car. I removed my steering column from my 1969 car. (I have owned it since 1981) I am back-dating the car to Series I style, so have been accumulating parts for that purpose. Unfortunately, I cannot seem to find a picture of the...

Re: Steering column issues

I went through this problem myself. Why people seem to feel the need to strip sub assemblies fully down, lose parts and then sell the car is beyond me. Never strip a part unless you are going to rebuild it straight away. Anyway, rant over, it caused me untold problems as there are several different ...

Re: Horn push

well I got a bit lucky as it happened. I found that I did have a used one with a dreadfully scratched push nd broken outer, but the ring was fine, so I rebuilt it into my original .

fingers crossed this hold together.

Re: 123 Dissy with Bluetooth

well I now have it working ok, and although I have not finally set up the advance curve by jove its an impressive bit of kit. I have upped the needles to UE from UM and already the car has developed a sense of urgency. I am beginning to think these 123 Blue Tooth Tune are a must to get the best out ...

Re: 123 Dissy with Bluetooth

thanks, I shall persevere. I have read the Jag Lovers post very interesting. It not clear whether there are pre loaded curves in the BT 123 or whether you have to make you own. ah well , all part of the fun I suppose.

Re: 123 Dissy with Bluetooth

thanks for the reply. It seems yo have to sit with the ignition on and the engine off to be able to get up the existing curve and then program it. I hate sitting with an ignition on whilst I fiddle with something like this, I wish it could be done away from the car. 123 instructions leave a lot to b...
