Egal Bob Becks V8 monster Lightweight E type

Does anyone know anything of a chap called Bob Beck who built a hot rod Ford V8 engined E type ?. It had Ferrari GTO like bonnet vents and I think was raced in club mans events in the 60s and 70s. Barry Whizzo Williams? My interest is that I have just bought his one owner very early XJS and would li...

Re: Front Bumper and Badge-Bar, tweaking them to fit to bonnet.

In the words of Leonardo Di Caprio in the film, Catch me if you Can.......Do you concur Andrew....yes I concur? Fitting bumpers, over riders, and noses around the badge bar ranks as one of the most difficult jobs to get right. I personally inspect every E type I see in this department as a quick ref...

Re: New Reproduction Parts for E-Type's

Does anyone reproduce the heater box plenum? I did buy one a few years back but its a rough old thing and didnt fit well. This is the manifold that bolts to the bonnet and directs ram air into the heater fan.

Re: Not yet an owner but maybe soon.

welcome to the Forum and hopefully you will be an owner soon. Its always best to wait for the best possible car to come along rather than to rush in. Your car will be waiting for you somewhere.

Re: New Member HELP with Series 1 History

Do let us know how you get on with the search of Cheshire Archives. To find a complete set of key cards still kept but not to be able to get access to them would be very frustrating.

Re: Dash air vents

A bit muddled here now. The dash vents that screw to the dash top are not plastic they are brass originally I think. Underneath these parts are plastic air funnels that feed from the corrugated pipes.

Re: Seat shape

If you are referring to the change from Roadster seats fitted to a FHC to the new seat for the latter mine, 860897 September 62 has the latter seat. It's all in Haddock from memory but someone will know I feel sure. Andrew

Re: New Member HELP with Series 1 History

LG is a Cheshire registration and the records for the original data books are apparently complete and held by Chester Records Office. You can pay for a print out which should tell you who was the first registered keeper. HOWEVER, I have just tried to get this for my family Land Rover which we bought...

Re: Dash air vents

In think perhaps you mean the dash top vents? If so yes. Usual suspects have them, really dreadful rough cast things. CMC Bridgnorth have them made from billet. Exorbitant price and nothing like originals. So Sort of to answer your question

Re: What is this Red/Yellow cable?

When I wired my 3.8 it was not in my original loom so reckon it's there to streamline the new looms for cars with fogs. Proved very useful for me as I needed power through bonnet plug for daytime running lights and had this feed already bound in the loom

Re: Series 3, go on persuade me!

No real idea on budget just yet. I will study the market, but its fair to say that I have the time to work on a car myself and prefer working on my own cars. I tend to bond with a car if I have restored it, where as I dont if its a car that someone else has done. Really, I would like a nice rot free...

Re: Series 3, go on persuade me!

I like my Getrag...... Seriously though Andrew, I can't compare a Series 3 V12 to a Six cylinder E, 'cos I haven't driven one. My car is standard apart from the Getrag and uprated cooling (aluminium radiator, modern fans and extra relays - works really well even in 40 degree C temperatures). I find...

Re: Series 3, go on persuade me!

Hi Andrew, I think there might have been a slight mix up between posts with jagwit! Yes, my car was bought from Eagle but restored by M&C Wilkinson. Fitted with the last factory fresh 6.0 litre engine, fuel injection, AJ6 Throttle larger body kit and special TT exhaust. Power between 375 and 400 bh...
