Re: Series 1 4.2 Stereo Speakers
Thank you Guys. I have actually gone for the Retrosound speakers as I purchased their stereo. Did anyone find out what the threads are on the mounting studs on a 4.2? Slightly coarser than UNF by the looks of things.

Re: New Member
I am not sure how you can down play ethanol. Laying up in the UK is normally 6 months. That’s easily enough to cause modern fuel to do its worst. Most classic owners have only one problem with their cars in Spring and its fuel. Gummed up floats stuck needles and low octane misfiring. It’s awful stuf...

Re: New Member
Welcome Paul, as Geoff says you will find a great knowledge base and help on this forum for all things E type. Cutting out after a while is almost always electrical and probably coil. Maybe overheating due to being either an incorrect fitment, does your car take a Ballasted coil? I think it maybe sh...

Re: Series 1 4.2 Stereo Speakers
Thank you Steve. I shall take a closer look at these. Do you recall whether the 16.5cm was the overall diameter or the distance between fixing holes?

Series 1 4.2 Stereo Speakers
Chaps, I am just finishing the rebuild of my 66 4.2 Roadster. I am fitting the Retrosound stereo but need to find a suitable Co Axial stereo. Can anyone recommend a suitable speaker that fits the existing holes in the console. Remember its a 4.2 so has bigger speakers. thanks andrew

Perhaps you can post a photo, as I am not sure what you are referring to. TO my knowledge there is not wood in the centre console area ?

Re: Wiper park adjustment control
Thanks very much Steve, thats just what I wanted. I have noted that the drivers side spindle has a little free play where as the other two dont move rotationally at all when its switched off. The free play must be in the mechanism somewhere which is causing the drivers side to stop slightly above wh...

I am sure you should seal it from allowing any water to get between it and the door frame/ skin. Andrew

Wiper park adjustment control
I cannot find in my various publications any reference to which way to turn the park adjustment control on the bulkhead to fine tune the position the blades stop. Rather annoyingly there appears a little slack in the mechanism, in that when they do stop you can manually move them down to where you w...

It looks correct to me. I will try to check mine this morning and post unless someone gets there before me.

Re: Christopher Storey
I am very sad to hear this news. I have only just read about his passing after posting an inane and rather meaningless post on gaskets. It is some 10 or 11 years since I first encountered Christopher on this wonderful forum of which he was a leading member. I did not have the pleasure of meeting him...

123 Dizzy fitment, cork seal or not?
Evening fellow E type owners. Its just a quick question, I am fitting a 123, as I have several time before but I have forgotten if its necessary to fit the cork gasket to seal the crankcase when the 123 comes with an O ring on its shaft. I expect the answer is not necessary. Anyway, all views apprec...

Re: Engine side frames
Just putting it out there, I have a complete set off a 66 US car. Now I know lots of you , me as well, will suggest that its best to replace these at restoration. However, to be honest I really did think about this as they seemed so good. Certainly far to good to be scrapped. I did go ahead and buy ...

Re: Roadster windscreen rubbers
Well it’s solidarity at least ! They are known to be a pita but they need not be if the rubber was correct to standard. I may get a FHC rubber to compare. One may think for a car as collectible as an E type that original pattern seals would be available. Hey ho.

Re: Roadster windscreen rubbers
Ok so I was lucky and found a section of my original windscreen rubber. There is considerable difference between the original and replacement. Not least that the channel for the body location is not the same and when the new rubber is placed on the body it has the effect of thickening the rubber ov...

Re: Roadster windscreen rubbers
Lots of glue and swearing! Yes I think you are going to be correct. It must be the rubbers being thicker than original rubbers. Its just odd that my last restoration I fitted these quite easily, made me wonder if there were different manufacturers of rubbers. I cannot recall where I got the rubber l...

Re: Roadster windscreen rubbers
Thanks Simon. Yes they are re chromed. My rubber came from SNGB as Baines told me they don’t do a series 1 roadster rubber. My lower chrome went in easily !! Did you have any photos of your installation ? It’s almost as if the rubber is sticking out too far and stopping the chromes from sitting back...

Roadster windscreen rubbers
I am having the devils own job of fitting the Hockey sticks back to the car they came off. It’s all the stuff that came off the car except the rubber. The rubber almost feels too thick and keeping the chromes from fitting on nicely. Question is has anyone had this problem and put it down to bad wind...
