Re: Hood chrome trim behind side window
Yes they are indeed available as a separate part. I had one in similar condition to yours and bought a replacement from SNG Barratt earlier this year but I can't remember what I paid for it though.

Re: Stoneleigh 2018
The red e type was previously owned by myself and it was the guy I sold it to who was selling it there at Stoneleigh this weekend. I spoke to the owner today and he told me that he sold it for £74,000. The strange thing is that it went through Barons auction on the 27th of February this year and fai...

Stoneleigh 2018
Well despite the weather's best efforts to stop me going to Stoneleigh for the very first time , the snow really hit us hard again down south, I managed to arrive when the doors opened at 10am. I joined the queue of eager buyers waiting to find that elusive part and a bargain to boot. The weather mi...

Re: Are prices beginning to come down?
Having watched this particular sellers offerings for a few months I came to the conclusion that we were living on different planets. His prices were crazy bonkers. I wouldn't take too much notice of what this particular seller advertises. He is not far from me and he is well known in the local area...

Shelley jack stripdown
Well after eventually finding an original gusseted Shelley jack I have decided that I would like to strip it down and give it a freshen up with a coat of the correct shade of paint. I have removed the pin holding the square head on, removed the circlip to release the droop snoop housing but I cannot...

Re: Advice please
Thanks Barry. I want to replace my roadster with an early FHC which is why when I advertised the car I mentioned that I would be interested to hear from anyone that had a FHC in an exchange or P/X against mine. I thought that there might be a few FHC owners who might like a roadster but I had no one...

Re: Advice please
Hi Barry. Yes I also do not understand why NFC moved to Beaulie garage but I think it had something to do with the lease and the business rates they were paying on the showroom/workshops in Lymington. The showroom in Lymington, as you say, was a really great place to display their cars and was a ver...

Re: Advice please
Sorry Steve, but if your car was just like an NFC Car for half the price, the punters should be queuing halfway down the road! There is a very good reason why a professionally restored car from the bare metal and a complete mechanical restoration costs well over £200,000. If yours ticks those boxes...

Re: Advice please
Well put, Steve. Not everyone selling on eBay are scoundrels. However, the question remains. Why didn't you advertise your car on this forum? You would reach an informed and largely appreciative audience that would help sell it by spreading the word and guiding people, just like they have done here...

Re: Series 1 hardtop
Steve, the factory hardtop is a great plus. The latches can be brushed clean and éventually rechromed. My S2 has an aftermarket one, looks nice from a distance. While my S1 has an original one, it is way better in all respects. I do use the protective transparent film, hardly visible, which you can...

Re: Series 1 hardtop
Thanks for the replies and advice guys. I will definatley be buying it and I think spraying it in Old English white is the way to go as it will match the body colour.
Mark. Your car with the matching hard top looks really nice. Where is the best place to buy the protective film from?

Series 1 hardtop
I have been offered a nice condition factory hard top for my car which i must admit appeals to me. All of the chrome trim, headlining etc is with it along with all of the fixing latches. The latches and mounting plates are a little bit pitted but original and could easily be sourced and replaced. Th...

Re: UK registered car or export?
The chassis number will determine if it is genuine RHD or not. If it has a RHD chassis number then it will be considered a genuine UK car. It is not a genuine rhd car as it was built as a lhd with a lhd chassis number but my question is why would the factory have gone to the trouble of registering ...

UK registered car or export?
Hi all. Hopefully someone on here might be able to answer a question for me please Back in 1962 an American customer ordered an E-type roadsters from the Coventry factory and decided he would like to collect it himself from the factory and drive it here for a while before taking it back home to the ...

Original 1963 E-type 3.8 engine replaced with a 3.8 MK2 block? Advice please.
I have only very recently bought my E-type and have since found out that although it has the original "R" numbered head it has a Jaguar MK2 3.8 block. The number stamped on the block itself reads:- LE-3704-8. It was replaced before the previous owner to myself bought the car over 20 years ago as he ...
