So I guess mine is ok since the adjustment screws seem to do their job correctly. I will Check that again tomorrow.
Greetings, Bernhard

Re: Series 3 Steering Upgrade
Yes, those are mounted with 4 screws in the bonnet so I guess we have 4 choices on how we like it best, maybe sideways would be more accessible.
Thanks, the most important thing was that you described that there where those flages so I could look for them and prey the ring off.
Sincerely,
Bernhard.

Re: Series 3 Steering Upgrade
Hi Marek Finally I got the chrome-ring off. In my car it is exactly the other way around. It is the way as displayed in the parts and workshop manual. In order to get it out I had to use a flatbladed screwdriver to lift the ring over (actually under) those flanges that You have at 1 and 11 o clock p...

Re: Removing the S3 bonnet?
Thanks for those great answers, but I am so excited that for a change, with this car and the bonnet removed, access will be so much improved that this is the only way to go for me. Also I did not mention that I have a paint damage in the middle of the bonnet which needs to be fixed anyway so as soon...

Re: Removing the S3 bonnet?
Thanks Geoff Thanks a million, this is exactly what I needed. I have two or even 4 helpers in the family and since I am paying theyr fitness center membership it sure must be for such an occasion. So if he can do it without any damage, we sure can lift it off and put it aside without any damage. Tha...

Re: Removing the S3 bonnet?
This might be true but, depending on my testroutine the result may call for an engine revision anyway (cylinderhead gasket?) but I really want access to all components from all sides. My friend also tries to avoid taking the bonnet off and suggested to remove the wheels in addition to getting the bo...

Re: Series 3 Steering Upgrade
Thanks Marek I have not had the car on the lift yet but this will happen as soon as I get back home from Santiago de Chile this weekend. Since there are multiple wet spots I have to clean everything first before the search can start. The washer mod just sounded very interesting especially since Jagu...

Removing the S3 bonnet?
Hi, gents Since I seem to attract all kinds of problems on my S3 OTS I decide to put the car to a full day of tests with my Picoscope to see what the status is and fix everthing until driving season returns. To do all those tests I definitely dont want to creep around that huge bonnet the whole time...

Re: Series 3 Steering Upgrade
Hi, I just purchased an XKE S3 OTS 72/73. Since it is my fourth Jaguar I was not surprised that even after a good presales inspection she starts to leak on every possible corner. Right now I am clearing up all cooling oddities before driving again (one thermostat is slow, the right coolingfan is dea...

Re: Filler Cap worries, Overheating ?
Thanks for those informative pictures. I just wanted to exchange those thermostats today and as careful as I am I still broke 3 out of 6 bolts while removing the thermostat housing. I even used an inductive heater to loosen those bolts which worked for one of them but the rest was rusted more or les...

Re: Filler Cap worries, Overheating ?
Hi, I just purchased an S3 OTS and picked it up. I started a comfortable drive along flat level country roads. At the first gas stop I saw coolant running out from under the car. Some investigating showed it only came from the overflow hose and stopped after 30 seconds some burbling could be heard, ...
