Hub oil seals

Hi All.....front/rear hub oil seals......2 versions available.....standard and aftermarket......standard are metal with a rubber like center.......the after market are a normal type lip seal.....big difference in price.... £16 vs £4..... what have you used......thanks.... Steve

Hi Chris......as you have found out from the parts manusl the correct door seal is BD28434/1..... the one you have may be wrong.......as for the seal in the quarterlight channel that faces into the door opening..think it should be BD 20500/4...Thats whats shown in the parts catalogue....Steve

Hi Jan.....the page i quoted for the setting link measurements shows a 2+2 with air con as 48.87cm where are you seeing that you should set to 46.8cm.....Steve

Hi Jan.....why do your wishbones hit the frames.....without the torsion bar out you should be able to push them right down.......you can see in my photo that the cutout is there so the wishbone clears the frame

Hi Jan if you look close at the attached photo you can see the torsion bar going through the wishbone...where the end comes out and you can see the splines on that side of the wishbone its machine thinner..you can see the end of the machined cut just to the right of the small retaining pin/nut...can...

Hi Whats your name....please try to put in in the signature area with your car models......you may want to read up on ignition module(opus)....well known to overheat on S3....so causing hot start problems.. Steve

Hi Jan....did you page J.X.s.1 in the service manual to work out what setting length setting link you should be useing and the following page to calculate the ride height.......if you are still too low you need to reajust the torsion bar........there is no way of telling how much lower the car will ...

Hi....welcom to the forum.....whats your name..please try to add it to the signature line......no special trick to fitting the rubber seals.......i find it easier to push the back part into the channel a bit at a time and then press in the front use something blunt that wont damage anything.......th...

This could be really interesting re the insurance.......all the policies i know need the car garaged overnight if at your home.......this one was removed from its nearby storage and just left covered overnight at the owners home.....on my insurance i wouldnt be covered.....

Have a look on xke data.....this one built Dec 1970 delivered march 71 http://www.xkedata.com/cars/detail/?car=1S20001 give us some more detail whats your chassis number etc... Steve
