Hi Mitch...please give us some details of what you are building...are you starting off with an E type and modifying it ........or creating an E type from other vehicles/parts......as far as im aware there are no torque charts specifically for S1 or S2 cars...there is one for S3 cars in the Jaguar S3...

Have a look at page E.X.s.2 it gives details of the clutch slave cylinders......early cars started off with a slave that had a spring and needed adjusting....then it changed to a slave that automatically compensated for clutch wear with no spring....then the changed back again to an adjustable slave...

Hi Simon....so you have tested with a mechanical guage and know that your problem isnt a faulty guage or sender so now you need to look at the filter head and filter....is it a standard type or is it a spin on conversion....high oil pressure points to a blockage somewhere so i would start with remov...

Hi Yves...i think yes if the impeller gap is too large you will get reduced flow and possibly no flow..there is obviously something wrong as you say if you press the impeller the gap closes...this should not happen..... Saw the car today at the XK70 event.......i do hope the guys dont try one of there chemical dip processes to remove rust..becaus when it comes out of the tank there wont be much left..........this really is going to be a full on restoration......haveing said that iv seen far worse that have been ful...

Hi Ian...its a non standard distributor....probably sold as a complete electronic unit...you also need to check out your vacume advance....you dont have it connected on your distributor....the small tube on the vacume unit at about 10o/c in your distributor photo... Steve

Hi Gary...as Andrew says above..it is far easier to remove the torsion bars and reaction plate by disconnecting the front hubs to release all the tension.....the difficulty usually comes when pins are used to retain the torsion bars in place and just remove just the reaction plate......Steve
