Re: B W 12 Automatic gearbox

With Lucas injection installed, I think you should be looking at your AAV. This doesn't really sound like a trans problem.

Re: Service & Spares Bulletin Database

If you PM PhilK he can give you details. Thanks, I did and this is what he told me. "If it was just one or two bulletins that you were seeking and that I owned myself then I would have no issue forwarding these across. However, a lot of the collection has been sourced from others and it would not b...

Re: Service & Spares Bulletin Database

First off, thank you for doing this.

Where does one get the .PDFs that are named according to the links in the Excel spreadsheet? I didn't see anything that would match in the Knowledgebase forum. Am I missing something? Perhaps I'm just looking in the wrong place?

Thanks again

Re: SIII Driveline Angles

Abowie: RE rear engine stabiliser, since this is a V12, there is no rear engine stabiliser. But the way the V12 twists under load when the motor mounts are hot & squishy, I have thought about maybe rigging something up along those lines. There ARE tapped bolt holes in the firewall and bellhousing. T...

Re: SIII Driveline Angles

Thanks for the pictures Bob. It appears that the engine sits level but it looks like the differential pinion angle is up, but how much? Oh well, the measurements will tell. lowact, as I stated in my original post, the JT5 uses a rubber mount instead of the stock trans mount. This is why I need to ma...

SIII Driveline Angles

Does anyone know what the pinion angle should be for the SIII IRS? Also, can anyone confirm at what angle the engine\gearbox sits when properly installed? Is it dead level or does it slope down toward the tail end of the gearbox? Background: I have a JT5 installed as a conversion from automatic and ...

Check into electro-less (sp?) Nickel plating. It was used by Classic Jag when they did mine. Looks great and is durable.

On the US 2+2 its tucked way up over the left rear wheel well (C pillar?) and mounted to the horizontal seam at the back of the wheel well.

Re: Fuel injection on the V12 engine

The Achilles heel of MS is in the quality of the connectors and a couple of the components on the main board are badly laid out were to need to repair a unit. While this may be true of the kit, I went with the MS3 Pro for that very reason. It is pre-assembled, has much improved connectors(water res...

Re: master cylinder assembly diagram

Have you seen the "S III ROM & Parts Manual Errata" doc that Rich Mozetta(on Jag-Lovers) put together. It explains a lot and I believe the brake Master cylinder is the first thing listed. Re: Borg Warner model 12 gear 2 vibration

Band adjustment is relatively simple. Just read up on it in the manual. I believe this is the most likely cause of your vibration.

Re: Help! Torsion Bar Quandry

Final Update! As I mentioned in a previous post, where the jackstands are placed DOES have an effect on the clearance issue that was the initial problem. Simply relieving the 1 spline preload on the torsion bars installed at 17.5 inches left the ride height too low. Looking at Ole's drawing and doin...

Re: Help! Torsion Bar Quandry

Update! After getting the car off the jack stands and on to the street I have found that even with about 10 miles of driving with the adjustment cams at their lowest setting, the front height is about an inch too high. I'm thinking that the jacking points I used at the time may have had something to...

Re: Help! Torsion Bar Quandry

Update! Just for the record, I had to close up the setting tool dimension to 17.5 inches before I was able to insert the torsion bars on both sides. Once they were in and indexed, I set the preload to 1 spline using the JD43 tool as directed in the procedure. Trial and error here so I'll know if thi...

Does anyone know what dimension setting tool should be used for uprated torsion bars? Surely, I can’t be the first to fit these.

Help! Torsion Bar Quandry

Has anyone else run into this? I am refitting my uprated torsion bars since they have taken on a set that leaves the front end a bit too low. They were installed new when the car underwent restoration some years ago. I'm not sure how they did it, but I am trying to follow the manual. I have the shoc...
