Re: SNG Barratt User Group- Water Pump O/Haul kit Warning

Hi all, Just a brief heads up if you are in the market for the pump overhaul kit SBS7272 (applicable to all 3.4/3.8 engines except earliest XK120's, plus most 4.2 ) from SNG. Until recently I've been in the fortunate position of having a few NOS bearing assemblies to hand to over haul pumps as neede...

Re: Water Pump seal installation

Thanks Colin, very useful brief. It seems that the usual Jaguar suppliers don't have and cant find a suitable seal. I'll do some more running about but time is against me right now so might have to cave and use the kit solution then continue when I have more time. Thanks for the input. Regards, Mich...

Re: Water Pump seal installation

Apologies Tadek, I did read your post and noted the drawing and manufacturer. This is the one provided by the likes of SNG in their kits and it only suits the 1/2" shaft, as indicated by the 14.5mm dia of the smallest spring coil. My thrust was to see if any of the usuals actually have one to suit t...

Re: Water Pump seal installation

OK, that makes sense, so I need a seal that will take the 5/8 dia shaft. Non of the usual's seem to do them unfortunately.
Anybody had any look finding these?

Re: Water Pump seal installation

HI, I'm trying to re-seal an original S1 3.8 waterpump using a bearing assembly of the same shaft dimensions as the original, i.e. 5/8" front and back. The SBS kits sold by the usuals are 5/8 at the front and 1/2" at the rear , so you must use the new impellor supplied with the kit. The new bearings...

Hi John, I also agree with Peter, in fact so much so I'll happily accept your olds ones and recycle them for you  At about 7-8 quid each it's an unnecessary expensive if not obviously damaged. More importantly, you will foreever worry that the next person in your position will know it's not ...

Re: Early 1961 Aluminium Rear Hubs

Hi Ian, Thanks for the in situ photo, makes sense now. How did you get on with hub bearings and seals if the diameter is smaller and the hub isn't listed, presumably suitable bearings etc are not listed either. A visit to a bearing specialist with the old bits in hand? Works around here if you want ...

Re: Early 1961 Aluminium Rear Hubs

Hi, Looking at the parts manual it lists C19063 from the first cars! Are you saying that there was a previous version that is not listed? If so what is your reference? Are you aware of a SB that introduces the C19063 version? Incidentally there was a pair of the C19063 on eBay at £1800 for the pair ...

Re: Grass track racing E-types 1989 Lancashire.

8448TJ was John Cuff's car bought new by him direct from the factory in 1963. It is recorded as being transferred to the Competion Dept before delivery to have work done. John was a big friend of my Dad, Gordon Brown of Five Barred Gate Garage, John immediately started competing in it. It was progre...

Re: Production Moss Gearbox

Agreed they are a different part number, but very subtle differences which I think, will have to check, wouldn't preclude it. Either way the XK CR donor box has the same casing as the E-type CR box, so use that. The bell housing has a different seal arrangement as well to consider. I think I am righ...

Re: Production Moss Gearbox

Hi Barrie,
I think it is only the CR gearboxes that have a component Laygear. Agreed the CR boxes are much more common in the XK's than E-types. Therefore a good source of a cheap CR upgrade if you know what you are doing.

Hi,
You may have already checked but in case you haven't.
DVLA have the car listed as still Red, no MOT history with the V5 most recently issued in 2005.
Hope that helps.

Re: Early Series 1 4.2 E-Type Block ?

I live a couple of miles or so from the old Farington Foundries site, it was massive, so they had plenty of room to leave their production to chill and de-stress (sounds like a management training course 😁). The site is now largely housing and a retail park dominated by a Morrisons Supermarket, sadl...

Re: Eagle Lightweight GT

Hi Steve, An Alloy body was an option and homologated in period, just saying😎. In fact to be absolutely correct, the steel body was the option. I know that wasn't really the case but that was accepted by the FIA. Alloy diff and gearbox casings were tried by the factory, I accept they never made prod...
