Re: Painting armrest/door pulls a different colour
Thanks Geoff and Steve...............most useful comments. I was particularly impressed with your covered armrests, Steve. Very labour intensive and I'm not sure I would have the patience. Think I may well have a word with my local trimmer! Was playing around with a can of grey spray primer last nig...

Painting armrest/door pulls a different colour
Having changed the interior of my car from biscuit to light grey I now need to change the colour of some faded sea green vinyl-covered armrest/door pulls I have bought. Has anyone successfully done this and what paint is best to adhere to a flexible base, as well as be hardwearing?...........results...

SC Parts come up trumps!.......after waiting over 4 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rejoice with me, one and all! The final part of my order with SC Parts, placed on 6 January 2021, was delivered today, after waiting over 4 months! Of the 54 parts I ordered, (£550 in total), 48 arrived on 13 February with 5 arriving on 6 April. Some did not fit correctly whilst one was lost in the ...

WARNING WARNING SC Parts delivery delays because of Brexit!
In case anyone is thinking of ordering any items from SC Parts I thought it would be sensible to make you aware that, because all their parts are shipped out from Germany, Brexit is causing considerable delays. I thought I would take advantage of their 20% discount or price-match offer during Januar...

Radiator top/under bonnet foam seal fixing
Just wondered how the preformed foam seal that sits on top of the radiator should be fixed?...............glue of some sort or otherwise?
I see from a search of old Postings here that double-sided tape has been used!

Re: Centre consol / gearbox tunnel cubby box refurb
Hi Grant, As requested, here are some pictures:- The 1st pic shows my car as it was, with the "biscuit" interior, before I had it converted to right hand drive. The 2nd pic shows the cubby box, as it was. The 3rd pic shows some of the kit for the new grey trim........you can probably just about make...

Re: Accuspark Electronic Ignition Performance Pack
Thanks for all your replies...........most useful.
There seems to be some doubt over the reliability of the Accuspark unit so I will probably give it a miss!
My car has always been a real pig to get started but I'm thinking that a new ignition coil may well help as the existing one looks a bit tired!

Re: Centre consol / gearbox tunnel cubby box refurb
Hi Grant, I would recommend that you have a go yourself, especially if you are ok with DIY. If you have access to E-type Club magazine no.167, October 2018, you will read how Ross Wilson recovered his central cubby box. This is the second part of an excellent 3 part article that spurred me on to com...

Accuspark Electronic Ignition Performance Pack
Has anyone fitted or had experience of Accuspark electronic ignition systems? They're advertising a pack, suitable for the Series 2, on eBay at the moment. For £104-95 you get a Lucas 25D6 electronic distributor with Stealth electronic ignition module, Accuspark red rotor +coil, 8mm silicone HT lead...

Re: Late series 2 air filter.
My apologies for the late response but I have only just received word back from my restorer. In his words..................."The company who supplied the filters are called Classic Carbs. There was no adjustment to the carbs required as I'm pretty sure, because yours is an American car, the carbs ar...

Re: Late series 2 air filter.
Well Phil & Geoff............I'm wondering now if they were old stock or whether a conversion kit was used. I have to confess that I didn't actually fit them myself; my restorer did the modification, a couple of years back, when he converted the car from left to right hand drive. If I can find out f...

Re: How to adjust tex door mirrors???
I had the same problem with a floppy mirror!.........it was the swivel socket ball that was too loose. I solved it by carefully smearing Araldite epoxy glue around the visible parts of the ball and then using a hairdryer to make the glue more runny so that it seeps into the hidden bits. You'd think ...

Re: Late series 2 air filter.
Hi Phil,
I converted my 2+2 to right hand drive and made the mistake of ordering K&N filters that didn't fit!
I ended up with fitting Ram-flo by Lynx filters to my Stromberg's..........look very smart as well.
Will try to download a photo if you want to see how they look?

Re: "Torpedo" armrests/door pulls????!!!
Thanks for picking up about the screw to retain the door card. I have checked on the exploded diagrams of some suppliers to see where exactly the self-tapping screw should be located and it is in the centre of the handle trim on the corner where it turns downwards at 90 degrees. SC Parts show this a...

Re: "Torpedo" armrests/door pulls????!!!
Hi Joe, No, despite my car being a fairly late Series 2 it wasn't, as far as I am aware, fitted with armrests. It's just that to close the door you have to either pull the door handle or pull on the door handle recess........both not ideal as the handle is not designed for that purpose and secondly,...

Re: "Torpedo" armrests/door pulls????!!!
Hi Bob, Yes, I was aware that the armrests to other Jaguar models..........I thought the Mk10 and 420G.....were meant to fit but I have my suspicions that although they look very similar the mounting hole centres may well vary. This is mainly because I enquired about a pair that were going on eBay, ...

Thanks Steve and sorry about that............thought the Post might be more relevant to the 'Series 2' section rather than the 'Wanted' section.
