Re: Engine rebuild advice
I'd be cautious stating its all done in house... I know most people contract to Chesman Engineering - which almost all top engine builders do too..

Re: Mangoletsi ITG Air Filter from SNG
Thanks Mark, most grateful - did you try both sets of UO and UE needles? If so I’ll go for your recommendation. Also did you just bolt on or are you using pancakes inside to smooth the airflow? James

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes
Thanks David, good points and all well presented. I was a little under whelmed with the exhaust note so thought some minor mods. may make it sound faster than its usually driven! Will check adherence to decibels etc. and I think follow the suggested path and sort plenum first with the Mangoletsi fil...

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes
Hi David, that’s superb! Thank you and I think achieves the best of both worlds. With regards to the exhaust - definitely not going off standard, but considering taking out the main baffle/exhaust boxes under the car and just having straight through pipes to the existing tailpipes. What do you think...

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes
Thank you and photos looks great! I'm sticking to my SU's so individual 'socks' may be best - always keen for some Thunderbird noise - considering removing the baffle off the exhaust so that should liven things up a little! James

Re: Airbox or Ram Pipes
Thanks Tony, comments gratefully received. Engine certainly NOT tuned.. (I wish) v.standard. But I don't often tour/do long runs so its something I could live with but appreciate the hot air is not ideal. Will ponder!

Airbox or Ram Pipes
Dear all, My apologies if this is the millionth times this has been covered.. I’m debating taking off my plenum/filter drum and running with open mesh covered ram pipes - possibly with ITG socks? Anyone have any thoughts on ie is it asking for dirt ingress or with socks it might be ok? Anyone else t...

Re: E-Type Tyres - a video guide
Great explanation but what I want to see is what the sidewall looks like.. Pirelli’s C’s are clean, slightly bulbous and period.. others are clearly more modern adorned with manufacturers logos etc. not very period..

Good afternoon all, so very many thanks for all your help and suggestions, certainly more useful than the DVLA who I think have gone potty! Anyway onwards and upwards. James

Re: Engine rebuilds -Rushton Engineering
Hi John, I met them at the NEC recently, seem knowledgeable and have a fair few cars in. Prices seem sensible for a standard overhaul. Also considering at some point so let me know how you get on.. plus no substitute for going to see them first and seeing set up, work etc .. James

Re: New Member HELP with Series 1 History
Thanks Julian, I sent them the V888 as the registered keeper but they have recently changed Policy and unless you need the information for an incident/abandoned on your land, Police etc. they said they can’t provide! Not particularly helpful but it’s all gone a bit PC!

New Member HELP with Series 1 History
Good afternoon E-Forum, I am trying to trace the history of a ‘62 3.8 Series 1 FHC for which the original registration was 7501 LG, I’ve tried the DVLA but they’re as useful as a chocolate tea pot! I know the first and last owner but the intervening 50 odd years are pretty much unknown. The current ...
