Re: Tuning Problems V12

Hi Marek,
Thanks for your input. However the engine is running otherwise perfectly smooth and not missing a beat. That's the strange thing!

Tuning Problems V12

Hi All. Has anyone come up against this before. I have a 1973 Series 3 V12 OTS. Issues were that it wouldn't idle properly when hot and stalled with RPM falling below 500. Secondly re-start, after being left for 20 mins it was a problem to start - not firing at all. Then after a number of attempts i...

Re: Insurance

Agree with comments about Adrian Flux. I have an MG TD with them, asked for Agreed value, sent all photos off with full information about the nut and bolt rebuild it took them over a month to come back to me and would only insure the car agreed value for what I paid for it even though it was valued ...

Re: Which anti-freeze

Thanks, but both of the above are concentrated and recommend a 50:50 mix. Think I've found the difference though! The Amazon sellers don't tell you, but if you go to Bluecol (who sell both) they say the cheaper one "isn't suitable for classic or vintage engines" Under the first (more expensive) one...

Re: White wall tires 205/70r15

There is a company in Surrey who make whitewall trims to fit on existing tyres called bravado automotive tyre trims, they don't seem to have a website but they have an e mail address bravado@zoo.co.uk
or phone 01932-874000
Haven't used them but seen their advert in a few classic car mags.

Re: Anti Freeze

I always use the Blue 2 year Bluecol mixed with distilled water. Although finding Bluecol is getting more difficult.

Re: SNG Barratt

Welcome Julian, good to have you part of the Forum officially now! My V12 OTS is made up of a large proportion of SNG parts and it's always growing! One part you could consider manufacturing is the hat shaped unit that goes inside the oil filter canister, that goes against the spring. You can't get ...

Re: s3 under bonnet air scoop

If its the front scoop under the nose of the bonnet, the removal and replacement of the whole underside panel/scoop was covered in a wheeler dealers episode on the S3 E Type.

Re: Brake Master Cylinder?

Thanks Colin, Going to explore the Master Cylinder first and see if any issues there and probably use a master cylinder kit to replace the seals anyway. Plus still the possibility that the brake fluid boiled! Was a fairly hot day, by UK standards (26 deg C) and was in a convoy of cars, stop start in...

Brake Master Cylinder?

Took my series 3 OTS out on National Drive it Day on Sunday to do a 50 mile rally around the Essex Countryside. Final destination should have been Stow Maries an old WW1 airfield/museum. Anyway, after driving about 20 miles in fairly warm conditions (26 deg C) and stop start because of a large numbe...

Re: Hard Top for Series III

Agree with David. I have an original factory hard top that came with my 1973 V12. I know it's original as I managed to track down the first owner and he confirmed it came with the car new as an optional extra. I have seen genuine hard tops fetch £2500 but if you have an OTS you tend to use them in g...

Re: Recommendation for Mechanic near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Great shout Simon, but I would have to re-mortgage the house to afford JD prices!

But without doubt people who know what they are doing.

Thanks for the advice. But looking for an independent Jaguar specialist charging affordable prices, if that exists! :scratchheadyellow: and close to home.

Recommendation for Mechanic near Southend-on-Sea, Essex.

Looking for a good Jaguar mechanic in the Southend-on-Sea area, that can adjust/shim tappets and properly tune a Series 3 OTS V12. Any ideas/recommendations.

Thanks

I totally lost all links. The old link didn't work for me. Eventually found the new link on the E Type Club website.
