Re: AGM Battery Choice
I’ve had Odyssey PC1200s in both my cars for some years and they perform flawlessly, even in cold, damp British winters. I keep them conditioned with a Ctek mxs5.0. Much smaller footprint and they pack more cold cranking amps punch than the lead acids. I understand they are manufactured in Missouri ...

Re: Ignition light Issue
If it is the 3AW, then I have three flickering miscreant devices, one of which the previous owner put on in 2002 and two I bought recently trying to get to the bottom of the problem. I don’t feel motivated to have another go at the lucky dip. Still, its been better for me than oil pressure senders. ...

Re: Ignition light Issue
I have also had this issue with my S2 since I bought it nearly five years ago. I have similarly replaced various components, including the 3AW, all without success. However, someone on another Jaguar forum has suggested that while the generator light comes on if the voltage drops below a certain val...

Re: S 1 Wind deflector
I would also be interested to know if anyone has had any success with a deflector with the short wheelbase E-Types. Our efforts have been mixed. I bought something similar or perhaps even the same as the cabrio product in your post on eBay. It was advertised as suitable for a S1/S2. However, I found...
Re: EOG 984 C
According to old classic car.co.U.K., EOG XXXC registrations were issued by Birmingham Council from October 1965. The OG suffix usually represents the county of registration, while the first letter sequentially changes as the numbers are used up. Numbers were often issued sequentially. The site also...

Re: Up or down, or.....
I think there is an investor group in the E-Type market looking for returns. There is no CGT on cars in the UK and interest rates remain low. From what I can see, the investors have been concentrating on early 3.8 Roadsters and immaculate 4.2 Roadsters. Prices in the 3.8 Roadsters nearly doubled bet...

Re: Up or down, or.....
I’ve put an article in the Club magazine this month showing the results of auction sales from last year. The market was surprisingly buoyant, with 311 E-types being sold through the 45 tracked auction houses, versus 317 in 2019 and 319 in 2018. I think this was because the Auction Houses moved quick...

Re: Is the end near?
I remember speaking to a dealer at an auction when I was wondering why apparently rare vintage cars seemed to sell so cheaply. “Everyone who was interested in them is now dead”, he replied with a sigh. But will this be true for the E-Type? I don’t think so. First off, the design is as perfect now as...

+1 for Tippers. The rear plate they made for my S1 fitted perfectly.

Re: Security matters
Hi Chris, I use a similar tracking system - the 3 month battery life TKSTAR works well for me with text location maps and an app that allows you to set movement alarms etc. It’s very cost effective (about £35 to buy, 99p for a sim and ten quid on the mobile account). As far as sims are concerned I t...

Re: Hard Starting when Cold - One Solution
Had the same problem. That extra bit makes so much difference. One other thing that’s helped me is a smart plug and an 3Kw heater. I’ve put them in the garage with the heater pointing towards the carb side of the engine. In the morning before we take it out, I switch on the heater with my smartphone...

Re: A RHD in Continental Europe
Hi Lual, I’ve had the same the problem the other way around (I.e. a LHD in the UK). I had intended to get it converted but to be honest I’ve grown used to it and probably won’t change it. Just remember to hug the curb as you go around bends! And if you stick with it, there will always be a ready mar...

Sorry it didn’t help. I’m sure someone will be along who will know what’s going on in there. There are some very knowledgable members.

Re: Passenger door remote lever will not move. 66 FHC
I had a similar problem with my S2 Roadster. On examination, I found that one of the bolts securing the armrest was too long and it was snagging the mechanism to the remote control. It might not be relevant to the S1, but you could quickly check by unscrewing the armrest and see if it helps.

+1 for the 123 here. I had one fitted to my Roadster at the beginning of the season on the recommendation of my restorers. After 3,200 miles of touring it's been great. The car always starts first time every time and she goes beautifully.

Re: Series 1 2+2 values
Yes, there's not much about. Tracking the auction houses, I found only 6 were sold this year so far (2 UK, 3 US and 1 AUT) versus 9 last year (5 UK, 4 US). Prices this year have been in a range £29-42K with a median of £36k. That said, these were not pristine examples. Brucey's comment about LHD/RHD...

Re: E-type market - are cars selling?
I think Iopena is right about the high-end US market this weekend. Bonhams look to have also sold four E-Types at Quail Lodge for strong money, notwithstanding the weak pound. RM, Russo and Stelle and Goodings results not yet published online, but I don't see any E-Types in the 'cars still for sale'...

Re: E-type market - are cars selling?
Hi Trevor, I've been tracking auction data of roadworthy cars (projects and barn finds are excluded) for the last six years. The data I've collected suggests that S1 Coupé prices surged to a high in 2015 and broadly held for the following two years before dropping back this year. 2015 - Top 20% of t...
