I would sincerely prefer using the Moss box.
I was checking the “drivenman” conversion that looked appealing, and half the price of the t5.

Re: Moss gearbox hard to shift
Thank you very much, That’s a lot of information! And “it gets better over time and use” is something that sounds good to me! I will either stick to my not perfect moss box or try to find an alternative as getrag, zf or another brand . I have read that a getrag 265/5 would fit. Any other precise ref...

Re: Moss gearbox hard to shift
Hi, I have tried two things with my moss gearbox that is on the bench: Filling it with another oil, and heating it with a heat gun. It makes engaging and disengaging 1st and second a little better, but still very hard. I have seen those tags on the synchro, could it mean that they have been replaced...

Re: Moss gearbox hard to shift
Hi Geoff, you’re absolutely right, missing parts can be an issue, and in the end, I think that I will one day put another gearbox, but I like to understand, and that gearbox is a real challenge ! Worn synchro will make it hard for the gears to engage, and would be revealed when the car is moving but ...

Moss gearbox hard to shift
Hi, here is my little story with my moss gearbox : Knowing the bad reputation that they have and as mine could rotate until it was blocked after about a turn and a half of the shaft, I had initialy decided no to care about it and to go for a 5 speed. But of course I couldn’t resist dismantling it « t...

E type at Monte Carlo Rally
Many times I have been seeing the historical Monte Carlo Rallye, and here are a few pictures of e types. Do any of you know stories concerning the real rally when e-types have participated? Have you been tempted to participate in the historical event ? I must admit that if I were to do it, I wouldn'...

Re: Owner since 1977
Hello Chris, and welcome ! I enjoy painting, and from my experience, the prep work as everybody know is very important , and can really be time consuming for parts with complex shapes. So investing in a small sanblasting machine is a good idea. I used to buy special sand, very expensive and found re...

Re: Opalescent golden dream
Hello James, thank you for your kind reply, I am also convinced that refurbishing old parts can be the way to go. At the beginning of the restoration project, it wasn't so easy to know exactly what to do , because I have several cars and, even if none of them is in concourse condition ( and some are...

Thank you for your welcome !
I will consider opening a restoration thread.
I must read the restoration thread you mentioned Heuer, it looks like they have made a great job.

Opalescent golden dream
Hello everybody, I would like to introduce myself today. I am quite a big car enthusiast and for many years I have been buying and rebuilding several cars, for daily use and for the pleasure of seeing them from time to time, sitting in the garage when the work to do is bigger than I had previously p...
