Re: Series 3 OTS 1973 from westcoast Sweden

Hej Anders,
Wellcome!

Where in Sweden are you located? I have a summer house close to Eksjö. But living in Germany, In don't dare to bring my beloved E-Type to Sweden - too long distance, fear of rain and a lot of gravvel roads.

Beautiful colour!

Hej da

"Soft" break

Happy New Year to all of you! My S3 OTS has recently developed a bit of a strange behaviour. When I use the breaks, the pedal feels rather soft. I think, a bit softer than usual. If I "pump" the pedal, like going off the pedal and back on, it feels much harder. That means, I feel more resistance and...

Re: E-Type rookie in Denmark, with a project, 63 3.8 FHC LHD

Hello and welcome,

Recently I read in a German oldtimer magazine about a person that is specialized in new wiring looms. He might have done E-Types before.

Best regards

Re: New member UK

Hello Terry, As I am above 6'3", I did not even try a series 1. With my series 3, I had the seat rails set further back and now I can do a left turn, operate the clutch and set the blinker to the left at the same time ..... bearely ... And still, I can't wear a normal baseball cap above 120km/h. So ...

Re: Tyres

Hello and welcome to the forum. I am using Vredestein tires and they work fine for me. Although I am using them in the original size, as I believe that larger tires don't look very authentic. An "aggressive look" for a vintage E-Type seems like pink glitter nail polish for a distinctive old English ...

Re: Sticking Rev Counter

Hello Everybody, Thank you all very much for your input! I am a bit scared to try it myself, but the watchmaker of our village will come tomorrow to have a look. I will show him your post, Jerry. Excessive float was not on my list. I was rather suspecting dirt or old grease. Anyway, with this input,...

Sticking Rev Counter

Hello everybody, Just recently, I found the rev counter on my S3-OTS sticking. It feels like the rev counter shows a lower value. When knocking on the front glass, it suddenly jumps to a higher value. Is this normal? It appears as if the lubrication inside got sticky over time. I am tempted to give ...

Re: Zeus Brakes

Hello Mike, Here is what I would do: I would not try to bring the car to another MOT-station. I would rather bring the car to a good garage that knows the E-Type well, e.g. "Peters" in Roedermark (close to Frankfurt). And ask them to get the cat through the procedure. You might want to call them bef...

Re: V12 Getrag 265 bellhousing

Hello, If you can't get a good answer, you might consider to ask Automobile Individuell Peters in Rödermark/Germany. Mr. Peters sen. told me that he was the first to combine the E-Type engine with the Getrag gear box. Many years before, he was a Jaguar dealer as well as a BMW dealer at the same time...

Re: Exhaust manifold

Hi Sven, My car got 2 new manifolds recently, done by Peters in Rödermark. They told me that during an exchange of the old manifolds, most likely a few stud bolts (Stehbolzen) will break and you have to drill them out. For that job, you will need a drill template, otherwise you risk to land up in th...

Re: Where do you go for a garage service

There are 2 companies in Rödermark. They don't really like each other. There is a bit of history about that. But that's nothing that should be discussed in public :?:

Re: Where do you go for a garage service

Hello Ralf,
Where are you based?
There are a few recommendable addresses in Germany and a few with mixed feedback.
I brought mine to Peters in Roedermark. Very knowledgeable people there.

Extra Mobile has also a good reputation, but there will be some more.

Best regards

Re: EXHAUST FUMES IN ROADSTER

Hello Rob, Today, I tried to fit new gaskets under the rear lamp, as indicated by you. I bought a set from a German supplier of oldtimer parts. I am having major problems to fit the gasket under the lamp frame. It looks loke the gasket is app 5mm too short. How did you manage to mount the gaskets? D...

Re: Wipers won't stop

Just to finish this thread - The wiper works again. :seeingstars: All in all, I ordered 6 switches (they are quite cheap), as I did not know the exact specification. I destroyed 2 until I got the 3rd switch into the right position. It is true: The Mini-switch or the Landrover-switch - it's all the s...
