Re: Choke Light Issue

Hello Paul here. I had this problem a few weeks ago and it was a simple fix - remove the cover under the dash to left of steering wheel column (over your left knee if you were sitting in car) to reveal the choke cable attachment to the switch and adjust there so that switch will close then tighten. ...

Re: Anyone know a mobile mechanic near me?

Thanks for replies I am in Steventon so perhaps we can meet up for coffee. I will contact Birks. I think I might have fixed choke today. Screw was missing on mechanism below carb. Tomorrow morning start up will be the big test.

Thanks both for replies.

Anyone know a mobile mechanic near me?

Hi Paul here. I have been having issues starting my S 1 4.2 from cold and now can see the choke is not working at all. I think it is not connected below the steering column. I am unable to work upside down as I have vertigo so does anyone know of a good mobile mechanic that knows e- types near me in...

Cold start issue

Hello Paul here. Relatively new owner of reconditioned S1 4.2. My issue is starting after 4/5 weeks. I don’t think choke is engaging properly as I try and try and she eventually fires up after numerous turns. It has electric start. My question is where on the carbs is the interconnection such that p...

my soft top leaks

Hi everyone - Paul here. Thanks for all the responses to my other posts - really appreciated. Today just wanted to ask about my soft top on 4.2 S1 which is a new refurbishment, but regardless it still leaks just above the steering wheel where it joins the windscreen. I have put some extra rubber tri...

Winter layup advise

Hello - a quick question - my E has had its annual service and is now in a bubble in the garage on trickle feed and have not started it for about 6 to 8 weeks. Today i decided to take on quick run as roads dry. It went well but was slow to start even with electronic ignition. Usually a first time st...

Hi Simon the seats are Mazda Mk1 MX5. I put similar in my TR5 they are very comfortable indeed and fit well into an E-type.

This does not feel right

I read with interest in the E-Type club magazine just issued (169) that Philip went to the launch party of the new Woodham Mortimer company. Spare a thought though for those of us that were customers of JD Classics upon whom this new company is basing all of its sales pitch and USP on. An overnight ...
