Re: oil pressure sender
The other thing to check (probably the first thing to check upon gauge problems) is the voltage regulator for the gauges. They function at 10V (not 12) and the regulator is just a bimetallic set of points that opens and closes so that the average over time should be 10V. The gauges are damped such t...

Re: [edited] Spin on oil filter vs retrofitting OEM filter housing on Series 1
Since we are installing an oil cooler and pre-oiler, either a oberg or clearview filter are also being considered. Both use stainless filtration disks which are available in several sizes (from 5-over 100 microns). Both also have solutions for flow rates from 5-20 GPM. This seems to offer a ‘solutio...

Re: 1969 XKE SERIES 2 roadster
I have a 1969 XKE series 2 roadster. The attached photo shows a very ugly plate extending aft of the bonnet top skin. I removed the chrome grill to investigate. The plate is sandwiched between the bracket and the bonnet outer skin. Also the bonnet line seems to cut slightly forward in the area of t...

Re: Heater box
Clayton Classics sells an accessory that provides a metal box to replace the air flaps. The box has better flaps that can direct the air. In addition, it has a round side exit that feeds to a ball air vent similar to those in Triumphs. See the top right picture here http://claytonclassics.co.uk/part...

Re: Rebuilt engine starting procedure
While on this topic, why do we not all have pre-oilers for cars that regularly sit a few days (or more, like over winter)? Accusump is a relatively affordable (and simple) solution. I'm installing a custom built electric pump.

salisbury ramp angles
Does anyone know what ramp angles were standard (45/45??) and or have an opinion about what might be a better choice for certain situations?
I see Denis Welsh sells 40/60 ramp angle blocks as one alternative
Advice welcome

Hi, Bruce I'm not far from you (near Haliburton). The OJOA definitely have people who can help you and members with older cars (like me, reach out if you like). One thing that will help you wade through the advice is to get a clear idea in your head about your 'destination': If you are successful, w...

Re: TYRE QUERY
Get rid of any 205 tyre . These only work on V12s. On any 6 cylinder car they make it feel like driving a lorry, and in addition there are often problems with fouling the front wheel arches on full lock, and an inability to get the rear wheels on or off the car without deflating the tyre Or Not. 21...

Of note is that this gives us around 4.3° of camber change from full bump to full rebound. Also, if anyone was wondering, the wheel representation is based on the Jaguar illustration and shows only the tread width. It would be interesting to me if you could update your exercise with the full suspen...

1969 Series 2 4.2 RHD FHC 2+2 - the chassis plate was removed during restoration and subsequently lost. I can get a replacement from SNG but there are several sizes and designs. I drove my 1970 (built 1969) E home Aug 15th, 1975 and have owned it since then. It is now in the process of being completely restored. I have a target of driving it home again Aug 2020 for a 45th-year celebration of my relationship with the car.

No one can be sure if the fire had started anyway. But remember the pipes are hotter if they are wrapped. And the wrap soak up the oil. Its like a flambeau( correct word?) My engine was not what I call hot when this happened either. I was idling in a traffic jam for while when this happened. This i...

An alternative that might be worth exploring is a ceramic coating. In addition to excellent heat blocking, this can be quite attractive.

In addition to the great advice above, there are some other products you might consider.
