Is Opalescent dark grey a S1 color?

Hi

Is Opalescent dark grey a S1 color?

I have not been able to find it in xkedata or other sites, but this is according to the car dealer the name of the color I like.

Could this be another name for the gunmetal?

Thanks,

Safety belts

Hi I want to install safety belts in a S1 fhc. I assume there are belts with two or three “anchor points” (I ignore the proper english term for this). Has anybody any view (installation, fitting, looking, etc) on two versus three points, besides that a three points is probably much safer in case of ...

Re: About to sign for my first S1 FHC

Thanks for all wise comments / advises. Based on them, it is clear I need the car to be inspected by an independent classic car dealer with a mechanic. Seller still keeps the original bonnet which goes with the car. I think it is worth to do so, rather than taking a final conclusion based on a coupl...

Re: About to sign for my first S1 FHC

Thanks to both of you for your advices. Yes, I have had somebody knowledgeable looking into the car. This person, who took the picture told me door was not properly closed, but was presenting no issues . Regarding the bonnet, apparently this was replaced by a fiber one to improve handling. But here ...

About to sign for my first S1 FHC

Hi all Despite I am a member of the forum only for few weeks, I fall in love long time ago with these cars. I am about to pull the trigger and sign for an S1 from Dec 1964. I will have tons of questions, as I know little about them, and also because mechanically speaking, I am unfortunatly very gree...

Re: Help before buying S1 2+2

Hi Lual.....having a S2 engine still does not make this a deal breaker.....there are many E types that dont have their original engine....some have xj6 or 420 units for example.....I would check that the registration documents V5 if a UK car has the correct engine number on it.....you should actual...

Re: Help before buying S1 2+2

Hi Lual, If you live in Spain and intend to drive the car in Spain, then why would you look at a RHD? This unless I missed some point. There are plenty of LHD ones available... Thanks, Well, there are not so many S 1, in good shape ready to enjoy, 2+2 given my size. But is true I may be missing som...

Re: Help before buying S1 2+2

Thank you very much for the anwers. Would these matters of gearbox replaced (original automatic by a manual) and the new cilynder cover head, (making these changes a non matching number car), be a show stopper for a normal buyer? If I have to ever sell the car, I would prefere these are not a „no go...

Help before buying S1 2+2

Hi I need please some advice on a S1 2+2 I have been looking to purchase, as despite I love these cars, this would be my first purchase and my mechanical know how is minimal. Car was originally sold in US. Then reimported in UK, and converted in a RHD. Originally automatic box, changed “some 30 year...

Re: Series 1 2+2 values

I have just seen that at Hagerty Insurance, the value they give for a S1 2+2 is around half of an S1, in similar condition.

Is the value of a 2+2 really so much lower than the regular fhc? Is it really so much less “desired”?

Thanks for your views

A RHD in Continental Europe

Hi, just joined to this great forum. I have been chasing in the last year few S1 in the market that unfortunatly have been bought by somebody else in the last minute. I have seen now a 4.2 right hand drive in quite good shape. While I have never driven a RHD, I think I could get used to it. As I am ...
