Re: Early otter fan switch

I used a switch that is used in eurofighters (so probably quite reliable!) a friend got them for me. I had terrible trouble finding something small enough to fit in the original casing and able to swich enough current. ( not a major problem as it is an OBL car and hence has a fan relay). It requires...

Early otter fan switch

This maybe of interest to those who are interested in "original look" I have after a lot of searching found an aircraft component that fits inside the original switch. It does exactly the same job but is 100% reliable! ( a bit of a fiddle to fit though) https://i.postimg.cc/66jBGDT5/20200612-120754....

sound deadening pads, door skins.

Does anyone know if the 24" x 12" sound deadening pads fitted inside early car door skins are still available?

It was a sheet of tar like stuff covered in small holes/ indentations.

Sound damping in early e types

Has anyone any ideas on where to get as original sound damping material as used inside series one doors etc? It was applied before paint is some sort of black tarry stuff in panels with dimples all over it at about 1" gaps.

If it's any help the following from Hill top Products (01942 723101 - UK) is perfect for the rubbers. It is a double wall heat shrink and looks as if it will never shrink enough but it does! Heavy wall heat shrink size 20/6 adhesive lined black HRHW HRHW-20/6-ADH-o-STK Black. You won't get a nearer ...

Does anyone know if blank (unstamped) plates are available anywhere? Whoever makes the ones that are available also insists on stamping them with wrong fonts and wrong info. It would be better if they just left them alone!

Re: Twin headlamp E-type

If you are asking about the black car, it was one of two made by the factory, this one was for the 6th Earl of Cawdor, the cousin of Lord Somebody who was connected to Jaguar Cars. Sir William gave it his blessing but thought it was shite!

Re: Demister Vents

The triple vents are much wider IIRC so three of five wouldn’t cover the same area. Nothing that duct tape couldn’t help, I suppose, and not exactly mission critical. The period-correct accessory was always a chamois leather... :-) I have just had new moulds made, and eight sets of the three plenum...

Early series 1 demister plenums

Hi, as everyone knows (probably!) early cars had three white demister plenums rather than the later five black ones. The early ones were fixed on with spot welded metal tabs. These white plenums are invariably brittle/broken. I have had eight sets made, repros of the originals as I needed a set. If a...
