Re: seat slide o-rings

Hi,
I used some hard tyres from a model car (dinky I think) they have stood the test of 6 years with no problems. I was careful to keep grease off them.

Re: Air Duct Lower Panel Assembly fasteners??

I have several early 3.8s, all have just the self tappers with ordinary washers, not the oval ones.

Re: Early 1961 Aluminium Rear Hubs

The bearings and seals in these hubs are both the same as the later inner bearing and seal. The only problem are the bits the outer seals runs on, they need to have the outer diameter of the inner one and the inner diameter of the new hubs. A local shop made me a pair for £50.

Re: Which cooling fan relay?

If you have the old relay it is a simple job to open it up and put a modern relay inside it, keeping the appearence the same. You need a "normally open" relay. loads of them available on the net, just make sure it will physically fit, has a 12v coil and has a high enough current rating.

waist seals "binding."

A silly problem! I have just fitted out the doors on no 39 and have an odd problem. The window to door seal (waist seal?) gets dragged down by the window and up again by it. It cant be fitted any other way than to the door top chrome, It seems impractical to lubricate it in any way as it will smear ...

Re: Upper wishbone re-fitting

Re the black bolts (which are correct) the best finish I have found is gun blue. Old bolts just need rotary wire brushing, new plated ones need a blow torch to remove the plating. They are best done when heated a bit and then dipped in oil. It stands spanners a lot better than paint! . "Permablue" p...

Re: Brake system-Refreshed and No pressure

I have exactly the same problem, I will let you know when (if!) I find a solution.

Tried everything, every method, every suggestion, still got air in rear system. Clamping the flexi (to rear cage) gives a solid pedal so the M/C is fine.

Early series 1 door handle seals

Rumour has it that early 3.8s may not have had rubber seals between them and the door. Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Series 1 rubber seals

Hi, a great little business in Devon, "Phoenixtrim" have a line of really good seals, A post, B post etc. all soft like originals unlike a lot which require serious door slamming! They also have bumper to body seals that fit onto the bumper, no need for any super glue. tel no is 01884 849294. I have...

Re: Early otter fan switch

I used a switch that is used in eurofighters (so probably quite reliable!) a friend got them for me. I had terrible trouble finding something small enough to fit in the original casing and able to swich enough current. ( not a major problem as it is an OBL car and hence has a fan relay). It requires...

Early otter fan switch

This maybe of interest to those who are interested in "original look" I have after a lot of searching found an aircraft component that fits inside the original switch. It does exactly the same job but is 100% reliable! ( a bit of a fiddle to fit though) https://i.postimg.cc/66jBGDT5/20200612-120754....

sound deadening pads, door skins.

Does anyone know if the 24" x 12" sound deadening pads fitted inside early car door skins are still available?

It was a sheet of tar like stuff covered in small holes/ indentations.
