Re: Engine stand reservations

Hello Colin, It looks like you're good to go so you have probably bitten the bullet by now! I've had a V12 and several other heavy engines on a similar stand and the only problem I found was rotating the engine so, as I work alone, I tend to hook up one side of the engine on the lift chain to take t...

Re: Door internal water shield

Thanks for the further responses, which answer my question perfectly. I now feel a bit dumb because I do have the WS manual from which Rob kindly copied the diagram and text but because it was obvious to me how the regulator came out when I removed it, I never referred to that page and if I had, I d...

Re: Door internal water shield

Thank you Richard for your reply and excellent accompanying photographs. When I re-trimmed my car (S3 roadster), I did indeed fit membranes to the doors in much the same way as yours and I was happy with this until I read a post on this forum in which a member stated that the polythene sheet should ...

Door internal water shield

I've read through previous posts on this subject but none quite give the information I require. It seems that, like some other cars I've previously worked on, the polythene sheet water shield is actually inside the door itself and not affixed to the door directly under the door card. Having said tha...

Re: SNG Barratt website

I've just experienced similar problems with Barrett's site and I'm also using Safari on a MacBook Pro. However when I tried it with Safari on my iMac, it worked reasonably well. There was a iOS software upgrade on MacBook a short while ago and then a couple of days ago there was a upgrade to Safari,...

Re: Window height adjustment

Results of hose pipe test were satisfactory! So it's on to the passenger side now. Whilst studying the parts book I noticed that there are window frame spacers available (part BD20091/2) but there were none present on my car does anyone know whether they should be in place as standard or are they on...

Re: Front Alloy 4 Pots

Fosseway performance in Gloucestershire produce 4 and 6 pot callipers and uprated vented rotors along with other performance upgrades for S3.

I have just fitted their callipers and uprated vented discs on my Rover P6 V8 which I use for classic car rallying.

Re: Window height adjustment

The problem I had was poor water sealing around the window, there were considerable gaps all around the glass. I don't know why there were such large gaps because there is no damage to the hood frame and I was told by the family of the then deceased PO (who had owned the car for 35 years) that the v...

Re: Window height adjustment

Thank you for your response Ralph. As you probably realise, my problem is that the door glass does not rise high enough to correctly seal against the sealing rubber on the cantrail. After ploughing through many posts on this subject, it seems there are different methods to set glass height depending...

Window height adjustment

Hello, I am a new member and this is my first question. In the following thread http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=5692&p=40311&hilit=window+adjustment#p40311 post number 5, kingzetts mentions "a metal stop screwed into the channel in the winding mechanism" I am unable to locate this stop ...

Re: Hello from new member in Worcestershire

Thank you all for the welcome responses. Yes, I know I should have joined sooner - no excuse i'm afraid!

Nick, I'm about 6K south of Kidderminster so probably not very far from you so it would be good to meet up some time. We can arrange via PM.

Hello from new member in Worcestershire

Hello all, When I started the restoration of my 1973 S3 OTS a couple of years ago, I used this forum as a guest and gleaned a great deal of invaluable information by reading various appropriate posts. Unfortunately, I had to break off from the E type to concentrate on other more pressing tasks. I am...
