Re: E Type equals what other classic

Maybe the question needs to be changed: „ I have a budget of 60.000. Which classic should I buy, and why should it be an E-Type“? On that point I can add that the french where far ahead and are still not ultra - expensive so thats what I love. I mean if you see the technology you get in a DS of whic...

Re: E Type equals what other classic

I am a Citroen Fan, so I love their Maserati Co- masterpiece. But the shape of the E-Type always fascinated me ever - since, so I had to get one.

Re: Adjusting piston rings??

Well, in the old days, you could buy a size, and without drilling the cylinder it would have been too large, or its gap too small. You‘d then use a file to make it fit. Nowadays, new cylinder diameter, new piston means a fitting diameter from scratch. Be sure to get the orientation correct, 120 deg ...

Re: Overdrive in 2+2

In fact, it depends wether your car was either auto or manual before. If it was auto, the tunnel which the factory welded in will be large enough, google Jos Raaven for pictures. If your car came as a manual car, my guess is that they put the standard manual tunnel from the SWB cars in them, because...

For free: Club Mags

Hi all, I have about 30 E-Type club mags from the past 15 yrs or so, to be given away for free. Various issues, lots of club chatter I‘d say and some technical stuff plus resto stories. I have received them from a german forum member, who got them from a UK member. The only „drawback“ is that I‘d li...

Yeah, that „Tim“ is hard to cope with. Fuzz is ok.

My point of view was „overall“ - its ok. As you said, compaired to the recent Brewer and even more to the Barnie / Mario... you are right.

Re: SNG Barratt

Hi Julian,

Yes, it is part 6 and 7, from what I know they are not handed, any will fit both sides.

I‘ve been looking for them for a long time, to no avail, so I would be happy if I could find at least one.

Many thanks!

Re: Built by Many

Yes, thats right. I sometimes watch Car SOS, but must say that the deadline scheme and them trying to „rob“ suppliers is not a part I like. But if it is true what they do - restore cars to make people happy who lost a family member and it was his car or helping finishing of a project one could finis...

Re: SNG Barratt

Hi Julian, I still need one part that - I guess- many may need as well. I do not know wether it was used in other Jags as well, I guess in the MK2, but I‘m not sure. Here it is: http://up.picr.de/33882056lt.jpg It‘s the air vent grille, at least used in the 2+2 (in mine for sure  ). Please c...

Re: Built by Many

Stu, I think your post is a bit „too offence“ against the parts suppliers, especially against Julian from SNG. It is not the case that „most“ repro parts are rubbish. Yes, there are often issues, but I can tell you how a car without ANY supply is likely to restore : I had to wreck out 17 Citroen SM ...

Re: Series 1 4.2 roadster gear knob original

I have the wooden flag type one. Shall I worry? No, it‘s the cars own history, and if it worka, it‘s allowed to stay there. In fact on the ebay pics it was intact, when the car arrived it was missing, until I found it in pieces under the seats, so I could restore it „as new“.

Re: Built by Many

I‘ve just started to watch the first episode on youtube. Is that 50 EE S1 a bit low on the nose? Are they supposed to sit that low? I am not sure, but I think my 2+2 is way higher upfront. Not that the underpan becomes scratched or dented.... Then, I have now seen the part where Al looks at 26 secti...

Re: Has the S1 bonnet been painted as one piece?

...if you are re-painting it, it is no longer original anyway. So, if they did not paint the flanges properly, you could of course do the same. But it makes no sense. Its an expensive and rare toy, do the job properly. Mankind after you, the next custodians of the car will love you more if you did a...

Re: Jaguar XK-6 DOHC port/cylinder head analysis

I would reaaaly love to hear something about the Maserati C114 engine. It gave around 178 hp in 2.7 ltre shape, 180 to 190 in 3 ltre, and 220 in Merak SS and with huge valves (which usually broke). I can get measures - I never dyno‘ed my own car. Its base was a 3 ltre with broken pistons, so I had t...

Re: Has the S1 bonnet been painted as one piece?

Yes, this is what I just did. If you are good at painting, you may paint the inside of them all plus the small bits by yourself. I also did the outside of the front underpan, because I will take the whole car to the painter in 2 weeks or so. In my case the tub is painted, I am adapting it to the car...
