Re: Built by Many

Yeah, that „Tim“ is hard to cope with. Fuzz is ok.

My point of view was „overall“ - its ok. As you said, compaired to the recent Brewer and even more to the Barnie / Mario... you are right.

Re: SNG Barratt

Hi Julian,

Yes, it is part 6 and 7, from what I know they are not handed, any will fit both sides.

I‘ve been looking for them for a long time, to no avail, so I would be happy if I could find at least one.

Many thanks!

Re: Built by Many

Yes, thats right. I sometimes watch Car SOS, but must say that the deadline scheme and them trying to „rob“ suppliers is not a part I like. But if it is true what they do - restore cars to make people happy who lost a family member and it was his car or helping finishing of a project one could finis...

Re: SNG Barratt

Hi Julian, I still need one part that - I guess- many may need as well. I do not know wether it was used in other Jags as well, I guess in the MK2, but I‘m not sure. Here it is: http://up.picr.de/33882056lt.jpg It‘s the air vent grille, at least used in the 2+2 (in mine for sure  ). Please c...

Re: Built by Many

Stu, I think your post is a bit „too offence“ against the parts suppliers, especially against Julian from SNG. It is not the case that „most“ repro parts are rubbish. Yes, there are often issues, but I can tell you how a car without ANY supply is likely to restore : I had to wreck out 17 Citroen SM ...

Re: Series 1 4.2 roadster gear knob original

I have the wooden flag type one. Shall I worry? No, it‘s the cars own history, and if it worka, it‘s allowed to stay there. In fact on the ebay pics it was intact, when the car arrived it was missing, until I found it in pieces under the seats, so I could restore it „as new“.

Re: Built by Many

I‘ve just started to watch the first episode on youtube. Is that 50 EE S1 a bit low on the nose? Are they supposed to sit that low? I am not sure, but I think my 2+2 is way higher upfront. Not that the underpan becomes scratched or dented.... Then, I have now seen the part where Al looks at 26 secti...

Re: Has the S1 bonnet been painted as one piece?

...if you are re-painting it, it is no longer original anyway. So, if they did not paint the flanges properly, you could of course do the same. But it makes no sense. Its an expensive and rare toy, do the job properly. Mankind after you, the next custodians of the car will love you more if you did a...

Re: Jaguar XK-6 DOHC port/cylinder head analysis

I would reaaaly love to hear something about the Maserati C114 engine. It gave around 178 hp in 2.7 ltre shape, 180 to 190 in 3 ltre, and 220 in Merak SS and with huge valves (which usually broke). I can get measures - I never dyno‘ed my own car. Its base was a 3 ltre with broken pistons, so I had t...

Re: Has the S1 bonnet been painted as one piece?

Yes, this is what I just did. If you are good at painting, you may paint the inside of them all plus the small bits by yourself. I also did the outside of the front underpan, because I will take the whole car to the painter in 2 weeks or so. In my case the tub is painted, I am adapting it to the car...

Re: Covered headlamps - water tightness

You can put a Mini - E- Type in one of them, under the glass. Looks funny, people love it. Some Citroen SM folks do, the glass vitrine is huge in comparison, so you can put a Corgi or Matchbox SM in there. In the centre, near to the number plate. With an E, I think a smaller version would work... Ca...

Re: Anyone used Nankang Retro RC-001 tyres?

I‘m interested in your findings, although, as I now found, you can only do about 110 km/h, maybe a tad more behind Port Augusta and Coober Pedy, or 100 km before reaching Hawker :-)

Re: S1 3.8 bonnet mouth shape and dimensions (factory)

I think and fully understand that these shapes are some core part of his business. IF we could ever find a pristine virgin bonnet, we could make some from thick paper, digitize them. Then they could be e-mailed and printed in a local CAD copy shop for some money. Glue the printouts on thick paper, c...

Re: S1 3.8 bonnet mouth shape and dimensions (factory)

I know that Chuck from MM has a set of longitudinal shapes, but he won‘t sell or send them (if I understood it correctly). Then there are the inside parts, the long ducts. There front tips fit neatly inside the curve, so if they are fully „flat“ I would expect them to describe the curvature you need...

Oh most of them are very friendly. Way more then in germany. Just came back from Aldi this morning, the cashier was a nice guy, talking a bit- if you can get a permission to live here, maybe when we‘re all old farts, do so. My wife said she would, and that means a lot. Plus it seems that, compared t...

Re: Going to Australia this summer

I have not found any problems yet, no spiders no snakes. Been to Fraser Island yesterday, no worries, all fine. Seen a Dingo on the beach, he was interested in our bag pack which we left behind, but shy, so off he went when approached him. There are 25 million Aussies here, so if they can cope, so c...

Re: Going to Australia this summer

Hey guys, We‘re in the middle of it - after 5 days of Jetlag and meeting Susanne‘s family in Adelaide, we went through the outback by car, tried the giant Burgers at Erldunda for example, and are now in Sydney. Did the harbor tour, Opera house, and Manly beach. Tomorrow we‘ll have a look at the Powe...
