Re: Going to Australia this summer

Stuart,

I‘ll tell SWMBO about your swollen kangaroo experience !

.... how long can you actually eat roadkill, btw ? Seems to be a nice and clever way to save some travel budget, most roadkill comes for free (if you did not run it over yourself, that is...).

Re: Going to Australia this summer

I heard you can fight the drop bears with the fluid that is filled into the headlights of you car („headlight fluid“), and maybe use an optical axle as well  . We can only go in exactly this time frame because of Felix‘ school holidays. At the moment it is 4 degrees C in the shed, I still do...

Going to Australia this summer

..end of June to Adelaide (having relatives there), then in a 4x4 via coober and uluru, kings canyon to Alice, flyover to Sydney, stay 2 days, flyover to Brisbane, take over campervan (hopefully not damper van  ), then drive to Cairns, stay a week for diving, 2 days to Daintree, fly back hom...

Re: What happened here ?

Ah I got it ! He wrote he later discovered the db9 was on credit. So it means he took it in. About the e-type, he says he has not been able to trace it. This means he SOLD (part-swapped) the E-Type for the DB9 he took in, plus he gave 16k cash away. After that a third party claimed ownership of the ...

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Then, does anyone have an idea where to get these springs from ?

They are the springs for the adjuster bolts on the lamp bowls- without them the adjustment can change by itself, say on bumpy roads.

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Today I found the long adjuster bolts, with the shoulder on top where they sit in the silver bowl. I ordered 4 from SNG, but maybe send them back one day. Now, I really need to know which bolts are used in these little taps here: http://up.picr.de/31517808ki.jpg http://up.picr.de/31517811za.jpg http...

Re: Sump Removal

I once came along the Netherlands at 3 in the morning, with half a car behind me on a trailer...at about 100 or so. Suddenly I noticed a strange sign I had never seen before. Looked a bit like two breasts ? Wozzat ? Then, 150 mtrs later after the bend, a huge road „wave“ came upfront. Hit the brakes...

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Yes I noticed that. However, my assembly differs when it comes to adjustments. It may be incomplete, and the new parts do not match the old design. In my case, there are nuts in stainless cages on the black bowl. In the SNG diagramm, you can see a long bolt which is screwed into the silver bowl, and...

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Hi Stuart, Nice to read you‘re back from the giant fridge :-) I‘ll assemble my set as far as I can get once I received the lamps plus the adjuster bolts. I think that with my pictures we could then work out a solution. I do have the correct (dished) black bowls. I thought I might take a look at my I...

Re: Sump Removal

No- take a soft thin blade, and I think it would oscillate-loose the glue.

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

I have the dished ones, see above. How is the silver bowl (in which the lamp is clamped into using the front ring) attached to the black bowl ? All I can see is the spring plus two nuts kept on the black bowl using stainless (?) retainers (cages). SNG offer long thin bolts for adjustment, maybe they...

Re: Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Hm-do the black and the silver bowls differ between S1 and S1.5 ? I am not sure, but looking at SNG‘s catalogue it seems to be so.

Could I use the 1.5 parts anyway in an S1 environment ? How could I solve this ? I feel I have to try it ?

Front lamp assembly S1 help needed

Hi all, I took 2 pictures of what I have per side: http://up.picr.de/31424628ay.jpg http://up.picr.de/31424632aa.jpg Of course I have more of the shown bolts, they‘re just samples here. My question is now: -which lamp kit do I need from SNG ? I found JLM9609K*, but the text says its a replacement fo...

Yeah, I‘m a user of oven paint as well ! (They should have done it that way in the factory. No one would moan about it being dull today. How could we?).

Re: Headlight bowls fitment

Could I please restart this thread ? I need some help: I have a set of original bowls, and I need to know which screws / bolts to buy to fit - the bowls to the diaphragma panel - the headlights to the bowls. I‘ll lay up what I have on the floor and take some pictures, maybe someone could then help m...

Re: Bonnet: dished lip around front lights ?

The weather gods were kind today : +13 degs ! So, here we go: put the bonnet on the car looseley (just laid it down). And methinks it fits ! I crawled under it, and checked the hinges. No problem in using a few shims, but to me it looks like I won‘t be needing to many. How would you arrange fitting ...
