Re: S3 wiring loom main bulkhead grommet

Hi Doddsy, Yes, agree on the plastic insert; there is one remaining on mine, with a diagonal interlocking joint to lock it to the other (missing) insert by the look at it. Looks a very clever way to let the big connectors through, then provide a tight seal between the two areas of the car. Did you c...

S3 wiring loom main bulkhead grommet

Hi, Does anyone have a spare or source for this (50 x 32mm) oblong-shaped grommet, used to protect the main loom as it passes through from the dash area to the engine compartment, near to the wiper motor / pedal housing? I haven't managed to find a picture or part number, so the picture of the peris...

S3 Demister Flap BD37162

Anyone have a source for one of these? Mine missing altogether from my early UK S3 & not listed by the usual parts suppliers. It's shown in the top left area of the picture below. It looks like a folded metal part, with a soft pad on the end to close of airflow when required. I have the ability to a...

Re: S3 Decals and positions - UK spec 2+2

Thank you both for your help. After checking for price and availability of the book, I think I'll start by taking a look on XKE data!

S3 Decals and positions - UK spec 2+2

Had a good search on the forum today and don't think there is anything close to a complete guide to the factory decals used and the positions they are fixed in for these cars. I see the big two UK parts suppliers list them, but no guidance on fitment location. Anyone out there able to contribute her...

Re: Boot Floor Drain tubes - S3 2+2 FHC

Thanks to you all for your comments. This S3 FHC has the separate drain tube for the rear door that exits by the rear number plate, and no sign of any internal gutter drains. That is consistent with the comments from Simon.
Great to feel clear about this area now.

Boot Floor Drain tubes - S3 2+2 FHC

On the assembly stage of my V12 resto, I'm puzzled by the drain tubes welded into the LH & RH areas of the boot floor. There is a fuel filler overflow drain that connects to one of the two LH tube stubs - see pic - but I can't see what the remaining LH tube and RH tube (close to the tail light apert...

S3 front seats - special washer

As part of a full resto of a UK spec '71 RHD 2+2 auto, I am re-creating a pair of front seats from scratch. Most of the work is now done, but on assembly there is a special washer (BD.37945), no longer available, that sits behind the seat back adjuster lever that I have been unable to track down. Th...

S3 Mudshield arrangement

Hi Everyone, My S3 resto is at the point where the bonnet gaps are being set and having dry fitted the carry-over fwd sill end closers and mudguard panels there are big mis-matches to the lower edge of the mating bonnet panels that should meet the rubber sealing strips. Would anyone be able to post ...

S3 handbrake control - ratchet wear

The toothed ratchet plate and matching pawl that provide the means of locking & releasing the handbrake at the drivers end are both significantly worn on my 1971 S3 2+2 V12 Auto. It appears from searching on line that replacements are not readily available. Is anyone aware if a source for these, or ...

S3 Wiper Motor Brushes set

Hi there,

Does anyone know where I might get a set of replacement wiper motor brushes from? They don't seem to be listed by any of the popular parts suppliers, and no luck on EBay either.

Many thanks,

Drew
