Re: Ally rad and fans, Radtec, NAR, other?

Hi, l live about 1 hour south of Le Mans and l recently changed my rad and fans on my S3 manual 2+2 with AC. Over the winter l had noticed it was leaking coolant and l could not see problems with the hoses or connections. I also had the original fans so l wondered about changing all to confirm it wo...

Re: Oil sump plug thread

Thank you Andrew for your reply, l am in Uk for a couple of days and will get the helicoil thread repair kit while here and will try to do as you suggest when l get back to France. I wondered about the Time Sert solution as it may be more durable. I guess the helicoil should be fine l will just make...

Oil sump plug thread

I have a series 3, 1971-V12. I have a Helicoil insert that is sticking out of my oil sump plug hole, l have seen different posts with different suggestions but not a clear description for a solution. If I try to put another helicoil in - should l retap the original thread after removing the insert (...

Re: Stromberg 175cd Carb Tuning

Thanks Peter and Adamski, Sorry for delay in response Peter but l take in to account your ideas. l have been delayed by work from spending as much time on her as l would like but she is still not starting after checking the dizzy and new plugs, coil, ballast and rebuilt one carb which was flooding sl...

Re: Stromberg 175cd Carb Tuning

Thanks very much for your reply’s, l have had another look around for vacume leaks-thanks l wasn’t aware of the connection to the brake servo-all seems good, so l tried enriching and it seems better although still a fair amount of vibration at low revs probably just a case of tweaking the mix more. ...

Stromberg 175cd Carb Tuning

I wonder if anyone can help me with some advice (other than ...take it to someone who knows what they are doing!) My series 3 2+2 1971 (ex USA with emissions removed) was running rich and l needed oil change etc and took it to a classic car garage not too far from me in France but after l got it bac...

Re: Door waist/glass seal 2+2

I just thought l would post my progress with this issue. I was a bit distracted with some other issues (mixing 2 tons of concrete to redo driveway to get Jag out -eventually- a bit more easily but that’s another forum issue!!) I removed the upper trim which was held by small rivets, l could see thro...

Re: Door waist/glass seal 2+2

Thank you very much for your reply’s, l do not have the rivets small enough to re-assemble the door just now and cannot get deliveries during the lock down so l will carry on with a few other jobs during the time off. I do not want to take the doors apart and not be able to put them together again, ...

Re: Door waist/glass seal 2+2

Thank you very much for your detailed reply, l understand your description for what l mistakenly thought would be quite an easy little job but like always it can rapidly become a bit more complicated. I think l will be in lockdown for 6 weeks here so hopefully will have the time to do the job but th...

Door waist/glass seal 2+2

From my French imposed isolation (take care everyone) , l want to use the time to do some of the jobs l have been meaning to get to....l need to change the outer seals that run along the door glass as with age they seem to have lost the last inch or two. Could anyone let me know how it is removed as...

Re: Man gearbox issue

Thanks for your reply l will check the trim but l think it may be a bit more involved but good idea to check this first. I had been reading the 4 or 5 speed debate with interest, l am going through the process of registering the car in France after having UK reg before and l will check the regulatio...

Man gearbox issue

Could l ask if anyone out there has experienced their manual box jumping out of fourth gear without warning, usually on ‘lift-off’,(not as in acceleration from zero! ..but slowing from 4th gear). The car is a S3 1971 2+2 with l believe the original box and 77,500miles on it. It has been running will...
