Why R 1623? Do you own R 1623 or have this body no tag?
My roadster 875521 is also 8 numbers off VIN plate R 1610 and body tag R 1602...

Re: S1 3.8 FHC
£30K seems less than market value for a promising project but market values are very silly at the moment. I've been struggling to find anything like that near that price. The auctioneers would spray it with dust and sell it for over £50K. If it’s a RHD 61 in that conditions it’s worth £70k+ If it r...

Re: S1 3.8 FHC
Barrie Thanks for the info, I was unaware of the change during flat floor production-every day is a school day as the saying goes :salute: Checking XKE data for engine numbers shows that this change occurred very close to my car's build date. I need to do a return visit soon to get the engine numbe...

It has the early carb linkage assembly and therewith is a Flatfloor if original. Even an early one....

Re: E-type Series 1 3/61 Dated Lubrication Chart - Value?
Even better - I agreed a sale outside ebay with him, when he still asked 449,- as starting price. I paid, he cancelled the auction but money came back the next day. No explanation, no response on my enquiry, nothing.
Condition is anyhow not the best. So I am not that sad....

Not sure about that.
Generally I tend to agree, but remembering vague that I read somewhere that there have been exceptions?!
Not sure about local specification or any other reason. In any case, it can be found too often to be pure random of an individual modification - imho.

Re: 850052 - 450.000 GBP - really?
Key question; how is the rest? - dynamo - regulator - cooling fan motor - ignition coil - trunk lid hinges - rear axle: hub carriers, non adjustable hand brake - seat & seat runners - screws & clamps - shocks - matching (not restamped) - original VIN plate and body no tag - gauges, in particular swi...

Re: 850052 - 450.000 GBP - really?
As I have mentioned before How much of that "Fully original" car, is fully original is up for speculation........ From my pov: more or less all cars needed or need restoration and with it comes welding in new panels, a new paint, new leather, etc. And sometimes parts, screws, clamps have been repla...

Re: 850052 - 450.000 GBP - really?
I can’t imagine anyone paying that much! Door armrests/handles?? Shouldn’t the steering wheel be an early type?? Hi Robbiee, this is absolutely correct. In addition: - wrong dash top - wrong cylinder head colour - also wrong (and cheap repro) clutch fluid bottle cap - would be interesting to see wh...

Have I missed something? Did early E-Type value rocket?

And one more. The flanges on the welded louver bonnets are approx 2 mm shorter than on the other, later Series 1 bonnet (not sure, if this is a 3.8 or 4.2). But it is an original one... And yes, the first picture is a bit misleading. But it is clear below 2.5cm and also approx 2.3cm tall. @Peter (a...

Re: louvered bonnet
Not sure, if I got the conversation right? But welded louvers were of course produced far beyond 875385. This was when the outside bonnet locks stopped. 875458 definitely had originally welded louvers... However I think the question is, if the stamping on the bonnet can be found to be earlier than t...

Hi Richard, I am awfully sorry as I did not respond. The topic slipped as I had some family affairs (my mother had to move into an house for elderly people after her collapse). This is an excellent idea and at least with one exactly the issue. I just started to try to get one going. Let's see how fa...

Re: FACTORY FIT - Series 1 3.8
Maybe another interesting observation from two welded louvers center sections (one supposedly from 875443 - I bought it off the then owner like 3? years ago and it shows the original colour as well as the resprayed one) and another I disassembled just a few days ago. After putting them in a row, sta...

Re: 1:8th e type model
I did Monogram once and after a row with Deagostini, who stopped delivery for 40,- Euros a month very early on and Model Space (which is basically the same) who wanted to continue for 50,- Euros, I stopped the monthly delivery and gambled. I could purchase two sets for a significantly reduced price,...
