Re: tach wire generator wire placement? (pic included)

The S1's used a tach generator driven off the rear of the RH camshaft. This outputs 1v per 100rpm and the tachometer responds to the total voltage, so basically a voltmeter. Re: Center console, originality

Headliner was Beige unless the car was painted Green when Suede Green was used seemingly regardless of the rest of the interior colour. There was a choice of Red or Maroon interiors depending on body colour. What was the original body colour?

Re: Mangoletsi throttle pedal assembly

Moss Jaguar have their open day on 22 June and Angus's LHD FHC with the Mangoletsi throttle will be on display. Plenty of chance to ask questions and take photos.

Re: Mangoletsi throttle pedal assembly

Angus has done the LHD conversion (I did the first RHD one) and being the perfectionist he is he ran the cables along the bulkhead to avoid cluttering the engine view (click to enlarge): https://i.imgur.com/QuCFpqm.jpg Also this thread may have some useful tips: https://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.p...

It is correct: http://www.xkedata.com/cars/detail/?car=880417

Late 1963 OTS had numbers starting 880, the FHC's had 889. Bit of a heart stopping moment for you there Pierre

Re: Marchal Amplilux headlights

Looking at photos I doubt they will fit an S1 E-Type bonnet as they are very big due to the double reflector design:

Re: Marchal Amplilux headlights

The Factory fitted Lucas headlamps although when cars were shipped to the US sealed beam were mandated; they were usually GE headlamps. Marchal Ampilux were an after market upgrade for many cars in period but if you have a S1 bonnet they may not fit. This is because the buckets have a slanted back t...

No. A previous owner has swapped in a red set of squabs as they simply lift out of the seat frames.

Re: FACTORY FIT - Series 1 3.8

Outer Toggle Clamp Assembly The first 500 cars were fitted with outer toggle clamps with 'necked' arms. These were prone to failure breaking at the transition point so Jaguar introduced new toggle clamps with more robust arms and slightly thicker tabs. The part numbers remained the same however. ht...

Re: Engine side frames

E-Type Fabs makes the best frames and they actually fit without mods, available from Hutsons. Frames are also available from SNGB and Martin Robey but IIRC they are made by the latter.

Up until December 1962 the dash-pot caps were made of brass with the letter 'O' stamped in them. After this date the dash-pot caps were made of black plastic. The brass caps were stamped with an "O" to indicate they had their pistons reduced in length from .378" to .308" to improve performance. The ...

Re: Correct position of Aerial

Philippe The aerial was typically fitted to the scuttle near the drivers door - both LHD and RHD - as the panels are mirror imaged with the same access holes. In fact the SPC diagram shows the position for a LHD fitment. Basically you can choose which side you want the aerial on. On my RHD FHC the a...
