Re: Dishonest, Incompetent, Feckless ? You choose.

Chesman Motorsport of Coventry is my guess. In the interests of balance this is their web site: https://www.chesmanengineering.co.uk/blank-c1vu9 Never had any dealings with them personally so cannot comment. Note this is not an open invitation to vendor bashing! Choose your words carefully if you wa...

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Removing the bezel is easy and I have done it when fitting a voltmeter in place of the ammeter - only takes a couple of minutes to do once the gauge is out.

Re: Dynamator by Stealth

Never personally been a fan of the Dynamator because they are very expensive and I have no idea what innards they use. My personal preference is to fit a Nippon Denso 19630-64013 which is hugely reliable, has an on-board regulator and is lightweight: http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=6668...

Re: Oil pressure gauge

Craig The JDC used to offer a new electrical sender and gauge but it is no longer available. M&C Wilkinson sell a kit but it is only listed for the S1/2 cars: https://mcwilkinson.myshopify.com/products/oil-pressure-capillary-gauge You could email/call them and see if they offer a S3 version. Try and...

Re: Horn works when steering wheel is turned (very annoying)

First test is to remove the horn push and see if the problem still exists. If it does then solving the problem would be, as Andrew says, best resolved with the column on the bench. This is what it looks like: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y186/q-max/E-Type%202/IMG_0224.jpg http://i5.photobucket.c...

Re: Horn works when steering wheel is turned (very annoying)

As he is posting in the S1 Forum I assume he has one of those? Robert has a short in the steering column so I think he needs to disassemble the whole thing. SNGB sell a kit of parts although it is worth trying to reuse the originals, specifically the brass/copper parts. There is a column restoration...

Forum Downtime

Sorry about the interruption to service but the site crashed and I could not gain access to the phpBB3 files to make some changes. Long story but there was no one with the skills to fix the problem except me and I could not get the necessary credentials to access the file structure. Many thanks to J...

Never had a problem with mine mounted on the frame. Trick is to make sure you smear the connectors liberally with silicone grease.

Re: Is this original....

That ignition wire conduit was fitted to thousands of E-Type's without causing problems. In fact SNGB have even recreated the very early conduit (for XK's and E-Type engines without lifting eyelets) because of demand. No reason not to fit the original conduit and bunching the HT leads together will ...

It is a Ford part so worth enquiring at any Ford dealer or Motor Factor. Alternative is a breakers yard. In theory easy to find. I see you are heading to Exeter

Re: New Book - Vintage Jaguar Keyrings

Just received my copy of Bud's work and it is truly awe inspiring in its detail and photography. Highly recommended even if you only have a passing interest in key fobs - it is like reading a good novel, it just draws you into the subject. A snapshot of manufacturing, supply and desire in post war B...

Re: Do not open windows....

Not heard of it nor seen any mention in the Spare Parts or Service Bulletins. I seem to recall there was an apocryphal story of the rear window blowing out in the FHC at high speed but in practice it would not happen because of the turbulence produced over the FHC tailgate which would counteract the...

Re: Help wanted - Problem with registering in Italy - Mangoletsi Jenvey modifications

Yes, the MX5 headrests can be simply pulled out leaving the seats looking like reupholstered 3.8 bucket seats. Fuel injection was fitted to all the LWE's so it was a period fitment. You should be able to buy (or borrow) a set of Stromberg's for little money as many owners convert the cars to SU's - ...
