Re: FACTORY FIT - Series 1 3.8

The 6RA's are a family of relay's with different terminal configurations. The E-Type used two - one 6RA for the horn and another 6RA for the fan. However they are different in that the horn 6RA has four terminals (Lucas part 33209, Jaguar part C17338) whereas the fan relay has three terminals (Lucas...

Re: Garage / workshop

You need good airflow through the garage so put vents at either end.

Re: FACTORY FIT - Series 1 3.8

Hi Maikel

Not sure why? Up to 1963 a relay was used. After that it was not used. You can add one to later cars to protect the Otter switch contacts if you want. Several relay options depending on what you want to do.

It seems Pete also represents the views of many members judging by the PM's and emails I have received over the last few days. Steve is implementing a ban on JCC for disruptive behaviour and being, well, just boring. Also looking at his previous posts (393 and counting) few add any value.

Re: Garage / workshop

Take care with your choice of resin floor. I used it in my garage and if I walked with wet feet they would slip from under me - deadly. The plastic inter-locking tiles are a better solution.

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

Am I correct in understanding that the central sliding splined shaft in the steering column is replaced with one with different upper splines ? Do CMC supply this as part of the kit? Robbie Yes, CMC supply the hub and splined column. The hub replaces the original, uses the same wheel holes and is t...

Re: Garage / workshop

Think about the electrics. In mine I fitted twin sockets at each end plus a light switch. I ran these to a master switch on the garage wall as it is more convenient to be able to switch the lights on before you enter the pit and switch them off again as you leave the garage. I also made up about 20 ...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

The video clip is of the CMC removable steering wheel which both Angus and I have. It was designed specifically for the E-Type, is very elegant and you would not know it was there. Not sure I like the large push buttons on the Superspoke - too far from stock: https://i.imgur.com/GjxbWvU.jpg https://...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

No Angus, your OCD aside, a removable steering wheel equals a good night's sleep. Car gone in the morning, holiday over. Essential IMHO. The Yanks think a "stick shift" is good theft prevention failing to understand for the rest of the World it was how we lost our driving virginity. Taking away the ...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

Why in the name of safety would you put such a weak piece of equipment in any automobile ?? You brought the safety issue up. Has any forum member ever damaged their steering wheel, in any fashion , by grabbing it getting in, or out, of your E-Type ?? You asked, I responded. And what ...

Wherever possible I also use a headlight but a handheld is certainly useful to have. When you buy an LED lamp make sure to get one that uses the latest technology - COB (chip on board) - as they are brighter, longer lasting have a wider viewing angle and use less power: https://www.digikey.co.uk/en/...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

Jaguar designed the steering wheel and about 50,000 E-Type's were delivered with it. It was not designed to accommodate wide wheels, fat tyres or to be used as a lever to get the unfit or infirm out of the car. It's strength is rotational not lateral so it being pulled or pushed leads to damage. Thi...

Re: Quick Release Steering Wheel

John Many modern cars automatically raise the steering wheel when the ignition is turned off to aid access. Using the E-Type wheel to help you get out of the car results in bending and cracking of the wood rim so you quickly learn never to do it! So easy to remove and replace: http://www.youtube.com...

It certainly makes working on the interior of the car much easier. Cleaning, modifying, maintaining and security. Once you have one you will wonder how you managed without it.

I can recommend CCleaner - been using it for years. Just download the free version and run it once a month: https://www.ccleaner.com/ You get regular updates and gets rid of all the crap (which is what the "C" stands for!) including tracking stuff and other nasties. Just don't click on the Professio...

Re: SNGB WEBSITE

Have you tried clearing the Chrome cache? It is usually the cause of connection issues. Basically if you visited the SNG site when it was down for maintenance your browser will have cached the page so it loads faster for your next visit. Unfortunately it will be remembering the invalid page :banghead:
