Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

Jerry

Wiring details for the mechanical switch are here: viewtopic.php?f=9&t=3134

Very simple to do and you can leave your existing switch and wires in place.

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

Either that or the seals breaking down. Suggest you a) replace the clutch fluid and b) get enough Cohline hose from Hutsons to replace all three low pressure hoses. As has been pointed out here you can replace them without having to bleed the system if you are careful and leave the car to stand for ...

Re: spare keys.

It is either a FHC or a 2+2, can't be both. Jaguar called the short wheelbase two seat hardtop car a 'Fixed Head Coupe' and the longer bodied car with four seats the 2+2. The FHC has the door locks in the handles whilst the 2+2 has them in the door skin. The 2+2 has a different jack to the other car...

Re: Sweating Brake Fluid Hose

SNG or XK's Unlimited will send you all the correct brake hose you need overnight. Unfortunately not. If you read this thread from the start you will see I bought hose from the usuals and it sweated. The SNG hose seems to be made of Buna-N (tube and cover; aka Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber) reinfo...

Re: spare keys.

It would be good if you added the Series and year of your car to your signature to enable members to better offer advice. There are two types of ignition lock, two types of door locks and about and three types of jack all depending on what your car is FHC/OTS/2+2 and year. And please don't double po...

Re: Factory cadmium plated parts

Don't know anything about concours Pete, I only know that commercial Cad plating is relatively easy to get done in the US but difficult in the EU. The JCNA guide does mention the various parts that are cad plated and judged accordingly. Odd the suspension is missing but having never entered a compet...

Re: New Jaguar TV series

Having watched one episode I have to say it is one of the most lightweight yet annoying programmes I have had the misfortune to view! Most US shows are fun and informative (Barn Hunters, Leno's Garage) but our host "GT Joey" talks like a B movie gangster and the rest of the content is flim-flam. Dea...

Re: Factory cadmium plated parts

On our trip around India I was astonished at the number of places offering cadmium plating, especially as they were amongst food shops and eateries. Many places had the chemicals in open drums on the streets thronged by locals and tourists. There are lots of places in the US who still offer commerci...

Re: Reproduction Steering Wheels

Both my cars have original CBT steering wheels so I have no interest in getting another. One of the rules of this Forum, which I try to adhear to, is we do not solicite "review" samples of any product. In the 10 years administering this Forum I have never received anything for free (which I admit is...

The bolt is UFB131/26R or UFS137/6R (LH side) and you can use this document to decode the spec. It is from our Knowledge Base:

Re: I learn something new every day!

Although Jaguar put Barr's leak in with the coolant of the early cars I have not seen anything that actively promotes it other than to solve a problem. If you look at the date of that SB you will see it was issued during the British Leyland days, so Lyons would not have really had a say in it and ti...

Re: Help needed. - Starter failure

Excellent! Keep us informed of progress. Ralph - depends on the model year. The 4.2's had an ignition light which was operated by (and I am not making this up) an oil pressure switch. The reasoning being if there was no oil pressure the engine must not be running therefore not charging! It was reall...

Re: tyre pressure

Don't really understand why high speed motoring should demand higher pressures. At higher speeds, the tyres get hotter, so pressure increases. So why have them higher to start? Can anyone educate me? it was based on the fact that the E-Type was originally equipped with RS5 cross-ply tyres which squ...
