Re: Personalised number plates

That's because ANPR systems can't read them when they aren't correctly displayed, and police are increasingly using ANPR . The ANPR software can now read any plate, including the silver on black of the E-Type and the square front plates of Rice Rockets, plus it logs/photos of any plates it can't ma...

Re: Personalised number plates

The DVLA do it for two reasons - a) it makes them a lot of money yet they retain ownership and b) the Police love them as they can be easily recalled by other motorists and pedestrians.

Re: Museum of Modern Art Series 1 Jaguar

Peter Many thanks for debunking another E-Type 'urban myth' or in this case a 'Fairy Tale of New York' (apologies to the Pogues!). Superb bit of investigation and worthy of including on the Forum for posterity. https://i.imgur.com/JqR5XqP.jpg https://i.imgur.com/0TWPp3C.jpg https://i.imgur.com/d4Q4S...

Re: Brakes upgrade

I have Zeus calipers front and rear and they have performed well for over 50,000 miles. Mine are the original style graphite iron versions which are not bling like the alloy versions. I like them because they look completely stock with no discernible logo.

Re: Dayton wire wheels S3 roadster

Great if it works John but we are asking questions because 'Fix-a-Flat' does not appear to be available in Europe. We are trying to understand its chemical composition to see if the available products in the UK (Tyreweld, Slime) will work as you suggest.

Re: Dayton wire wheels S3 roadster

I was under the impression that once you use 'Fix a Flat' or similar run flat sealants the tyre can never be repaired using a plug and vulcanisation. Only puncture repair foams you can use and have the tyre repaired are the water based ones e.g. Tyreweld but cleaning the tyre for repair can be very ...

The S1 manifold requires a special thermostat which is not readily available although SNGB can supply one: http://forum.etypeuk.com/viewtopic.php?p=65081#p65081

Re: Paint colour for Diff

Not quite correct I'm afraid! The final drive gear carrier casting was sealed inside and out with Glyptal paint. The Glyptal, an Insulating Alkyd Enamel Paint using a resin of glycerol phthalate, first made by General Electric in 1926, was used both inside and outside the diff casting to seal it and...

The 250GT used 15" x 5.5" wheels and was fitted with 185VR15 Pirelli Cinturato tyres. The 275GTB used 14" wheels and was fitted 205 R14 Dunlop SP Sport tyres. The 250GTO was a race car and used 215/70 R15 98W on the front and 225/70 R15 100W at the back with 15" x 6" wheels at the front and 15" x 7"...

The JDC 2011 edition of the Directory of Vehicles and Owners shows 850052 as being registered as 231 471 and being white in colour. I assume the reg number means it is supposed to be in foreign lands or maybe cloned?

Incidentally those Borrani's you linked to are stock images and for the Ferrari 250 GTO. Those for the E-Type look very similar to the stock items i.e. no huge lip. https://i.postimg.cc/5Ng3CdYw/Image-1.jpg Best combination for looks and road holding are Dunlop SP Sports 185VR15 on 15" x 5.5" wheels...

There is no published date when they stopped stamping the heads. I don't believe it necessarily coincided with a change in part number or head colour though.

Closest you will get are the JCNA judging guides which detail most parts. You need to read the S1 and S1.5 guides which will give you the details. Links to both are in the Forum Knowledge Base.

The standard wheels and tyres suit the E-Type perfectly. If you want or need anything else then your driving ability or ego is at fault, not the car.
