Rear Ride Height
I have removed the old exhaust system from the car as it leaked and was missing a front downpipe bracket. The car seems to sit extremely low and the exhaust centre boxes did hit speed reduction bumps. I have measured the rear wheel arch to floor and they read 585 and 580mm. Would someone ese with a ...

Rear Exhaust 4 Tail Pipe Removal
Is there a special way of removing the bolts from the nuts? The nuts don't have any room for the socket and trying to jam a screwdriver blade is not working. The item is on the car, but off the rear bracket.

Re: 4 Year Idle, First Start Dissappointment
Thanks Craig, maybe of help for people in the future as I could not find any help. Managed to get the revs down a little and at 1500 on tick over when warm at the moment. When up to temperetaure with the fans running she stayed cool and the temp gauge was just over half, so pleased with this. This i...

Fan relay changed and now they kick in. Now to fix the faults and get her out for a test drive, luckily on a private airfield!

Re: 4 Year Idle, First Start Dissappointment
Got her started, there are 2 distributor diagrams for cap to spark plug and I had used the wrong one. Moved them all round one and she started. The fans did not kick in, so need to check the wiring to the relay. Problem is the relay does not have any markings on it that correlates with the diagram n...

4 Year Idle, First Start Dissappointment
My fathers V12 had been sitting for a while and it eventually arrived at my unit. It overheated on his drive the last time he started it. I have replaced the hoses, fuel and coolant, had a new wiring harness for the radiator relay and fans. Refurbished radiator and cooling fans. I also replaced the ...

Re: oil pressure woes
I plan to go down this route, but seems a minefield with the different thread options etc. I will be changing the exhaust so when the car is on the ramp will remove the lower exhaust downpipes to get better access. Is it possible for someone to list what is required, sizes or part numbers etc? Thanks

Re: Fuel Pump Electric Supply
No joy with adding power as well as taping it with a hammer.
It may be the original, so might as well get a new pump.

Re: Fuel Pump Electric Supply
Thanks for your replies. I was unsure if I could just put the positive and negative on either end to see if the pump worked. I will give that a try soon. If nothing I will try the hammer treatment too.
Will see how this goes to start with.

Fuel Pump Electric Supply
Hi all Finally got the car back together after fitting a new radiator, silicone hoses and associated gaskets etc. Gave the engine a steam clean as it had years of grime on it. Plus it makes it nicer to work on! When I turn on the ignition, should there be a clicking from the fuel pump as it primes, ...

Does anyone know of the thread size of the oil pressure sender? So I can order a replacement for a mechanical piece to attach the hose.
Thanks

Re: Air INtake Temperature Sensor - Mounted
I believe they were when it was delivered by the garage 3 years ago.
So back to my original question regarding orientation. Which why do they go?
Thanks

Air INtake Temperature Sensor - Mounted
Hi All I forgot to take a picture of the orientation of the sensor in the airbox. Would someone be kind enough to post a picture of it mounted in their airbox? I can't trace it on Google to see an open box. The car is close to having an attempt at starting. Just need the airbox and vacuum hoses adde...

Re: Longest owned ... just a bit fun
Not an E, but my dad bought a mk3 sky blue Spitfire, 6 months old in 1968. I was born in 1970 and was sold to my mum’s dad. He kept it for years and when he got too old to get in it, he gave it back to my mum. They had the body restored and had 110k miles on it. In 2002 it was then given to my siste...

Re: Radiator Small Bottom Hose Concern
Toby, If you plan to go silicone from Samco, a word of caution. My kit was delivered with 4 incorrect size hoses. It took them 4-6 weeks to get it sorted out. My recommendation is to make sure they are all the correct sizes as soon as possible and not when you're assembling the car on a deadline to...

Re: Radiator Small Bottom Hose Concern
Hi Toby The red fluid will be automatic transmission fluid - there are two small steel pipes from the gearbox which run alongside the engine sump then connect to the transmission fluid cooler within the radiator via two flexible hoses. (If you have a manual gearbox then I give in!) Hope this helps ...

Radiator Small Bottom Hose Concern
I have started the removal of the cooling system to have the radiator recored and fans checked. I plan to replace the hoses with the silicone upgrade while the system is apart. Water filled the tray, but when I removed the half inch hose on the passenger/left side at the bottom of the radiator, it f...
